The best editorial cartoon I saw at the time was President Ford selling WIN buttons at the gate to the White House grounds. The price was 25 cents, marked through, and replaced by 50 cents.
I asked once how they could paint any car for the same price. Turns out that they started each job with the same measured amount of paint. They then went around and around the car until the paint ran out. So the larger the car, the fewer coats you got!
