But surely they know the difference between a recently born baby and a fetus past a certain point of gestation is minimal, yet they still consider it acceptable?

I don’t think the Democrat establishment likes the crazies in their party, any more than we do.
What I find confounding is how they claim to be for “the people” while acting in favor of themselves and the corporations that actively take steps against any and all who would disrupt or question their dominance/message/position.
Their visions of an economy on fire 18 months ago were clouded by the bombast and the Twitter rhetoric, accompanied by the Democrat-lead lockdowns and fear mongering.
If you assume Manchin is all about Manchin, then you must also assume he understands that to ally himself with the most extreme members of the Democratic Party undermines his ability to appeal to the centrists he’d need to win a national election.

As a conservative Democrat, in a state overwhelmingly carried by Trump, I trust him to keep his word.
I’m kind of surprised he has remained a Democrat, especially after the GA result. But, if Schumer goes off the rails, I don’t expect he will remain so.
When Hillary was defeated in 2016, the Left went through the same machinations (internally) as the Right is now.
The Corporate Social Media is attempting to silence many voices on the Right, just as they did in 2016. And the Democrats love them some Corporations, regardless of what they claim.
Trump is not going to declare Martial Law, unless there’s another group of people trying to occupy the Capital building.
And even then, it would only be within D.C.
Trump is going to fly to Florida on January 20, and we’ll get to see Kamala Harris’ face for the next 4 years. Biden is, as far as I can tell, an even emptier suit than Obama was.
