After 10 years of ACLU funded litigation, the Portland Schools won a major victory in the Oregon Supreme Court. The court overturned a lower-court decision preventing the Boy Scouts from distributing fliers at public schools because an atheist family objected to the Scouts' "duty to God," pledge in the Scout Oath. She complained that allowing the Scouts to recruit discriminated against her atheist son.
Portland TV station, KOIN, is running an online poll asking if Scouts should be allowed to recruit in public schools. Please follow the link found at http://www.bsalegal.org and vote "Yes."
Watch the video. This is a great story from the CBS Early Show today, but watch and you will notice that CBS cuts away during the Pledge and the Oath right at the point when the Cubs would say God. Once might be an accident, twice is not.
