ST. LOUIS – Whitey Herzog, the St. Louis Cardinals’ Hall-of-Fame manager of the decorated 1980s era, has died at the age of 92, per several reports. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Herzog has passed away, citing information from an official with the Cardinals. Several other media outlets, including The Athletic, have also confirmed. Whitey Herzog managed the Cardinals for 11 seasons from 1980 to 1990, winning a World Series title in 1982 and National League pennants in 1985 and 1987. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.

Squad progressive Rep. Cori Bush is under investigation by the Justice Department for allegedly misusing government funds meant for private security. The St. Louis Cardinals organization, and baseball fans everywhere, were saddened today to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Howard “Bruce” Sutter at the age of 69. Sutter, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006, was just the fourth reliever enshrined, and the first player to have never started a game to be elected. Sutter was a six-time All-Star and the 1979 NL Cy Young Award winner. His uniform number 42 is one of 14 numbers retired by the Cardinals.
