The Myth of a Stolen Election Those "flawed" military ballots had to be counted under federal law. BY BOB ZELNICK Tuesday, July 17, 2001 12:01 a.m. EDT Readers of the New York Times were treated on Sunday to a massive report claiming that hundreds of overseas Florida ballots cast in violation of state law were nonetheless counted by election officials under pressure from representatives of George W. Bush. While even the Times stops short of claiming that inclusion of the "flawed" votes spelled the difference between victory and defeat for Mr. Bush, the report is clearly meant to provide ammunition ...

  • ALL HAND COUNTED BALLOTS MUST BE TREATED EQUALLY

The procedure of examination and hand counting in Palm Beach Co. is obviously flawed. To be constitutional every ballot should be examined equally. There are undoubtedly ballots which have an obvious single punch for President, but which also have a slot through which the sun might shine, and should, therefore be rejected as having two votes for president. They were only inspecting ballots which had no obvious selection for President, and awarding a candidate only if they saw the sunlight through a single slot. Obviously, this is not treating equally those that were thrown out for obvious 2 punches with ...

  • Election night proof that Bush is smarter than Gore

Remember after the networks early on rushed to judgement that Florida was a winner for Gore. Shortly thereafter Bush was interviewed and said that he did not believe the projection of all the networks and that he expected to win Florida. Contrast that with Gore; shortly after all the networks announced that Bush had won Florida, and he then called Bush and conceded the elections based on having heard that on all of the networks. What does that tell you about the intelligence, judgement, common sense, and especially organizational ability. Can you believe Gore's own organization apparently had no clue ...

National Catholic Weekly Founded Oct. 7, 1867 - Our Second Century of Lay Apostolate The Wanderer A Reflection On The Current Crisis . . . The Open Wounds Of Israel By FARLEY CLINTON ROME — After the uprising that General Sharon provoked on September 30, the United Nations condemned the violence used against the young Palestinians. Israel, as it always does, defied this pronouncement. In the last 33 years Israel has received a long series of warnings, rebukes, and remonstrances from the United Nations — and has simply rejected them. Pope John Paul II has been in harmony with ...
  • Huntsville Times drops Walter Williams as too radical

Williams is gone The mere fact that people are entitled to hold and express strange ideas does not guarantee them a forum. In the marketplace of ideas, it's up to those who hold such ideas to gather a crowd and persuade it to a particular point of view. In the realm of strange ideas, one of the strangest I've ever seen appeared in syndicated columnist Walter Williams' column last Wednesday. Williams said it was time for people who disagree with the present direction of government to secede from the United States. He suggested, for example, that such people might move ...

Doctor plans offshore abortions Ship would provide abortions in international waters By Charles Trueheart THE WASHINGTON POST PARIS, June 15 — In imitation of pirate radio stations, offshore casinos and itinerant preachers, a Dutch doctor is raising money to outfit a ship to bring abortion services to international waters just outside countries where they are illegal. Her plans have already stirred a furor in Malta, a Mediterranean island where abortion is a crime akin to murder. ‘Such a move tries to defy the laws of the country and the values of the society being targeted.’ — LAWRENCE GONZI Deputy ...

On an interesting interview with Mike Wallace, Bill O'Rielly on Fox made the point that Hillary Clinton only goes on TV shows where she gets softball questions like Orphra and Letterman. He asked Wallace if he ever tried to get her on for an interview; Wallace said no, that it would be a waste of time, "those people never tell the truth."

Am I the only one who heard these incredible statements on Larry King tonight(April 24). Both F. Lee Baily and Ben Bradlee of the Washington Post said thet it didn't matter what the 11th Circuit Court said. They both said that the rights of Elian's father to keep Elian and return with him to Cuba trumped their opinion and that their opinion was "moot." Sounds like the momentum is building by the Clinton forces to defy any court decision and return Elian to Cuba! Please corect me if I am wrong.

A sign was held up: “Rocker Rules.” Several fans proudly displayed their newly pressed tee-shirts: “Rocker for President.” It’s hard to indict a whole city, but these are mostly white fans from affluent northern suburbs. You wonder what they know about prejudice? It’s amazing some times the number of callers from north Fulton County and Cobb County who complain daily on talk radio shows here about preferential treatment for minorities. Maybe I’m all wrong. Maybe they just have big hearts and forgave Rocker a long time ago. Perhaps the fans don’t care about the person as much as they ...
