If Prime Minister Martin was serious about wanting better relations with America then for starters he ought to do something about this beast and her big mouth.

Canada's not exactly a summer Olympics powerhouse. I bet if Canada had more success (like they do in the Winter Games) the CBC wouldn't be so "objective". How many 32nd place finishes by their countrymen/women do they think Canadian viewers would watch?

I heard Canada's elite athletes receive only $700/month (US) funding. In other words, a lot of them live in poverty if they want to train and don't have sponsors. I'm sure that's has more than a little to do with it.
I also heard that in Toronto they spend $30,000/head on the homeless. Go figure. Hey maybe some of those homeless might be good at throwing a javelin or something.
I remember hearing that Canada expelled a few Soviet diplomats years ago for espionage, and the Soviets retaliated by doing likewise and said more or less they were insulted by an action like that from a "weak" country like Canada.
If Prime Minister Martin thinks *this* is protectionism he better REALLY hope the Dims don't win in November with anti-free trader Edwards on the ticket.
Also - Come on Prime Minister, you seem to say the right things about security, but don't just talk about it - DO SOMETHING about it.

Ontario could vote conservative, they did it in 1995 provincially and that was no mushy red tory conservatism either, it was a hardline good old fashioned conservative Gingrich-would-be-proud government. The provincial leader, Mike Harris, was called "Newt of the North" for obvious reasons, and his "Common Sense Revolution" had a lot of ideas similar to the Contract with America.
