  • Impeachment Charade -- Faculty Lounge Edition

I have an idea for a TV movie. The opening scene would be somewhat familiar. A nefarious character, say a Utah Senator that is rumored to be super wealthy from his past double-dealing in some under-handed financial maneuvers, meets with a fellow Republican Senator over dinner at his home.

The guest, being a politician, has a number of questionable episodes in his past (information provided by various government operatives) that can be exploited through blackmail, as well as the usual greed for financial gain.

The host offers to ensure that all of the past misdeeds will never see the light of day and a bonus of $100 million will deposited in a secret account (a tax-free windfall!) once the Senator votes to remove the sitting president from office in the potential upcoming Senate trial. This scene would be repeated about twenty more times, with each corrupt senator believing they alone are the recipient of the host’s largess.

    The fix is in.

A lengthy made-for-TV Senate trial dramatically follows a solemn impeachment vote in the House of Representatives.

Breathless television newscasters have a ratings windfall ending with the surprise news that the US Senate votes to remove the president!

The finale would be a big reveal that the plan and all of the funding came from a foundation linked to a Hungarian billionaire who is intent on naming the new vice-president. Dark hints alluding to the removal of the existing vice-president in an arranged ‘accident’ following his inauguration could provide a surprise ending scene.

We all know, of course, that this is fiction. It could never possibly happen. No US Senator could ever be that corrupt or double-dealing.

They all have very high standards.

Dems want TRUMP’S people identified early. They will want to perform operations research as early as possible on any appointee in order to release negative items at a steady drip-drip-drip after appointee is in office. (Character assassination can take time if only mild negatives are available.) And we all know that Rats and their media allies feel a Trump Administration MUST be destroyed at all costs. Also, I think the call for Trump to allow Rat media charges to go unanswered and “stick to the issues” is a bit misguided. Unanswered charges can be inflated by the drive-by media to seem valid.

Thanks to all for responding, particularly those that PM’ed me about actual locations to consider and what attributes prove to be worthy of consideration. My initial thought was to move to Pensacola (warm weather, beaches, etc) but many comments regarding other areas, (most cited Texas and Tennessee) have me searching the internet for specifics. Mostly due to an “arms-length proximity” to family and friends in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Kentucky, I think Tennessee is most favorable.
Any particulars anyone would like to share will be most welcome!

The article is very much on point: “...a timely reminder that prosperity depends on more than effort or resources or infrastructure or good laws. Attitudes matter... You don’t build a wealthy society by deriding bourgeois enterprise — or the people who take pride in it.”

Perhaps Obama and his high-intellect advisers got it wrong? “You didn’t build that...”

One of the comments to the article (zke007) said:

“There is a lot more to this union action than meets the eye.

The Longview port is also a coal terminal. Right now, the coal is on hold for a permit paperwork violation.

While the Longview coal terminal is on hold, SSA, the company that is protesting the grain shipments from Longview, are pushing hard for a terminal of their own in Whatcom County, in a special economic zone that will have little to no local oversight. That terminal will be a “Gateway” terminal. In case you aren't familiar with Gateways, they are part of the UN Agenda 21 Wildlands project. They are also what Patty Murray's bill, S.942 are intended to fund. You know, the multi-modal infrastructure projects that Obama keeps saying that we need? Anyway, the only real profit on coal is in the terminals and SSA wants it all.

SSA is fully owned by CARRIX, the largest cargo handling company in the world. Goldman Sachs is the majority stockholder of CARRIX. The rail company that will carry the cargo to the Gateway terminal is BNSF, Warren Buffet's company and the coal is owned by Peabody, from the Powder River Basin. It's sub-bituminous coal supposedly headed to China, except that China says that no one should count on them for any long term purchase contracts.

The pressure to build this terminal has come straight from the White House. Richard Trumka, as the former head of the United Mine Workers, wants this badly, but the project may be running into some problems.

Oh, and did I mention that the husband of the WA State Senator, Patty Murray, has been a life time employee of SSA?

There is so much more to this story than what I have written here. It has torn the Democrat party in two, the unions vs the environmentalists and has caused problems for the GOP, who were tight with the Building and Industry people and were supporting a Democrat project for the alleged jobs.
Oh, there's more. As I mentioned, the pressure for the state officials to facilitate this Gateway Terminal came straight from the White House and it is widely thought that in exchange for her co-operation, the outgoing Democrat Governor, Christine Gregoire will be offered a seat on the NLRB.

I already mentioned that WA State Senator, Patty Murray's, husband is a lifetime employee of SSA, but I forgot to mention that the other Senator, Maria Cantwell, who was a founding member of the Apollo Alliance and big supporter of the Sierra Club, worked to facilitate the approval of a receiving terminal to be built in China and operated by SSA.

....and that is really just an introduction to what has been happening on the left coast, while Obama’s EPA tried to shut down all the coal fired power plants on the East Coast. I am so glad that SSA got arrogant and stepped over the line so that the whole country could get a look at what is happening on the West Coast.”

Can anyone substantiate these claims? Seems incredible, like some sort of movie plot (starring Matt Damon, of course.)

Over on Lucianne.com a poster noted that Democrats seem to view the current White House as having changed from a new Camelot into more of a Camel Lot.

    Camel Lot

It’s true! It’s true! The media has made it perfectly clear.
The global climate has been warming all this year.

A decision was made quite recently here:
    Conservative views cannot be allowed.
And there’s a legal limit to Fox News here
    In Camel Lot.

Rush Limbaugh is forbidden on the airwaves.
And Hannity must never be seen or heard.
By order, Glenn Beck is never mentioned
    In Camel Lot.

    Camel Lot! Camel Lot!

I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
But in Camel Lot, Camel Lot
    That’s how conditions are.
The news from MSM will always be favorable.
By edict, the tea party groups must disappear.
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
For rainbows and unicorns than here
    In Camel Lot.

    Camel Lot! Camel Lot!
I know it gives a person pause,
But in Camel Lot, Camel Lot
    Those are the legal laws.
Israel may never get a hearing.
    Palestinians will have our ear.
    In short, there’s simply not
    A more congenial spot
    For conservative-bashing than here
    In Camel Lot.

I watched eight episodes. It seems that the major problem that the producers of the film are complaining about is the privatization of formerly government run enterprises, and the costs associated with changing to a free-market economy. Or am I missing something?

I agree that food production is a fascinating factor in these population discussions, and that very little actual (factual) data is ever used. I understand that Auburn University and Texas A&M have entire Ag departments and graduate programs that are concerned with this subject, but I haven’t investigated.

Those are good numbers; quite enlightening. I sometimes point out to those that complain about overcrowding of the planet that Paris, France appears to be a quite livable city, with 2 million people living on about 40 square miles inside their “beltway”, a limited-access highway that surrounds the metro area. That’s about 50,000 people per square mile. That would indicate that EVERYONE on earth could live comfortably in a SuperCity inside the border of Texas (at what might be an even lower population density), allowing the entire remaining area of the earth to be devoted to farms, parks and wildlife preserves.

I used to think that there were no crocodiles in the U.S.
    Check this out: From
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_crocodile
“The American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) is a species of crocodilian found in the Neotropics. It is the most widespread of the four extant species of crocodiles from the Americas. Populations occur from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of southern Mexico to South America as far as Peru and Venezuela. It also lives within many river systems on Cuba, Jamaica, and Hispaniola. Within the United States the American crocodile is only found within the southern half of Florida. In Florida, there is an estimated population of about 2000.”

    http://www.hughhewitt.com/transcripts.aspx?id=18cb59db-7fd5-4ee2-9a9b-42b8b3507288
“A neighbor of mine, who’s a selectman, that’s the equivalent of the sort of town council in somewhere like California, actually produced a very interesting example of the difference between actually doing things yourselves, and sluicing them through state and federal government. There were two bridges that were condemned. One of them got on the Obama stimulus program, and the bridge still hasn’t been rebuilt, the temporary bridge is worn out. The bill is in, it’s up several hundred thousand dollars. The other bridge, they decided to do it themselves, and replaced it for $20,000 dollars. It’s a perfectly fine bridge, up to code and everything. Do it yourself. That’s what…when Tocqueville was traveling around Jacksonian America, that’s what he discovered, that Americans when they had a problem got up and did it themselves. This idea of sluicing it through big government programs is at odds with everything Tocqueville admired about this country.”
