CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of Las Vegas killer Clayton L. Wrencher, who complained his rights were violated when he was warned not to cry or show remorse during his trial. Wrencher was admonished by District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt not to shed tears or display emotion, and he maintains that prejudiced him before the jury. The court said Wrencher did not object at trial but raised the issue later.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has stated that the IHOP Shooter, Edwardo Sencion, used a Norinco Mak 90 that was illegally converted to fully automatic fire. The BATF has traced the history of the rifle to California, where it was sold five years ago. Sheriff Furlong said that the BATF told him that the rifle had been professionally converted to full auto fire. No information was given on the prior history of the pistol or the Romarm Cugir rifle that was found in the shooter’s vehicle. The Romarm Cugir rifle was commonly imported as the WASR-10, another semi automatic AK-47...

A deadly shooting rampage at a Carson City IHOP restaurant last month has prompted a call for a review of Nevada's gun laws. Assembly Judiciary Committee Chairman William Horne said it would be appropriate for lawmakers to consider changes to the state's gun regulations after a man with a history of mental illness shot 11 people with an assault weapon at the restaurant, killing three Nevada National Guard members and a civilian before killing himself. Horne, D-Las Vegas, told the Reno Gazette-Journal that while he's a gun owner who supports gun rights, he questions why citizens need to own an...

When Eduardo Sancion chose the location for his shooting spree in Carson City, Nevada Tuesday he picked a a street home to at least seven military installations and recruitment centers. Just over a mile away on South Carson Street is the Army National Guard, another mile north is the Nevada Army national Guard depot. Scattered throughout the stripmalls and businesses on Carson St. are recruiters for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Sancion pulled up to to the IHOP known to be popular among servicemembers in a blue minivan with a "Support Our Troops" bumper sticker on the back,...

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A gunman with a rifle opened fire at an IHOP restaurant in Nevada's capital on Tuesday, wounding six people and himself and killing two uniformed National Guardsmen in a hail of gunfire during the morning breakfast hour, authorities and witnesses said. A third person was killed in addition to the servicemembers, and the gunman was not expected to survive, said Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong. It wasn't immediately clear whether the gunman had any connection with the military or the guard, said Nevada National Guard Sgt. Mike Getten. He said guard members were meeting at...

The story is almost old hat these days. Despite constant warnings to be careful what you post on Facebook, a disgruntled employee who is irritated at a boss, a customer or a co-worker, takes to the social networking site to vent some spleen — and ends up getting disciplined or even fired. It’s a fate that has befallen a North Carolina waitress at a pizza restaurant, a Philadelphia Eagles stadium worker and a group of airline workers in recent months. But what if it’s the boss who decides to use Facebook to complain about an employee?

On April 15th, we interrupted my vacation in Tahoe to participate in a rousing tax-day tea party in Carson City, Nevada. We joined over two thousand souls who were tired of watching President Obama chip away daily at our individual liberties and bankrupt the country we love. To the dismay of liberals and their mainstream media supporters, Americans showed up in the tens of thousands across the United States. These were no parties of the rich gathering in their finery for fundraising tea parties. These were average Americans coming together to take a stand for individual liberty! In doing so,...

"The Stop Obama Tour" will be taking a stand in your cities on October 15th. If you live near those areas, you are encouraged to come and show your support for America. Bring your American flags, your Nobama signs, and you can even bring your resumes to show that you have better executive experience than Obama. If you pal around with terrorists, please list them in the References section, as that seems to be an essential qualification. The rallies are being run by Our Country Deserves Better (where you can find a schedule of where they will be next) and...

OK folks, here is my report on the Sarah Palin rally held in Carson City, NV on Saturday, September 13, 2008. The day the Palin visit was made, I called the Carson City Republican HQ to get information. The poor woman who answered the phone was tearing her hair out as they had zero information, phones ringing off the hook and people just dropping by. I picked my daughter up from school at 11AM - she's a senior in HS and won't be able to vote in this election (she hasn't forgiven me for having her 6 months too late)....

Sept. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Denny and Melanie Doyal got in line Saturday three hours before Sarah Palin's first solo campaign rally outside Alaska. They were among the latecomers. Terril Tungate was at a Carson City, Nevada, park by 10:30 a.m., seven hours before the Republican vice presidential nominee took the stage. When Palin finished, Tungate emerged from the throng clutching an autographed campaign sign. ``It was the bomb,'' the 52-year-old legal secretary shouted over the cheers. While she's long supported Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Tungate said, ``now it's 10 times better.'' (snip) After the speech, the Nevada crowd stuck...

CARSON CITY, Nevada – Sarah Palin made her debut in this swing state with many of the same well-rehearsed lines she’s used to excite Republicans across the country since her rocket rise to political prominence. This time, though, she didn’t have to appear as an opening act. After a week of campaigning side-by-side with John McCain, and often overshadowing him in the process, Palin made her first solo campaign appearance outside Alaska with an upbeat confidence, plainly comfortable being the main attraction. Introduced by Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki as “a hockey mom with attitude” to about 5,000 people in an...

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson still has fans in Nevada. The former Democratic presidential candidate was in North Las Vegas on Saturday, holding a town hall at the College of Southern Nevada's campus on East Cheyenne Avenue. Richardson, who is of Mexican descent, emphasized the importance of the Hispanic vote in Nevada and other Western states as he campaigned for Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama. A boxing aficionado, Richardson said he was also in town for Saturday night's title fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Joel Casamayor. Richardson endorsed Obama in March, prompting outrage from those close to New York...
