Prior to Charlie’s Angels (2019) fiery death at the box office, writer-director-star Elizabeth Banks had already formulated sexism as an excuse for her coming flop. Per IndieWire:...Already five major franchises — five — have been killed at the box office after being rebooted to exclude and demean men...And of course, the dried-up harpies blame men...A Wrinkle in Time...Ghostbusters reboot

Charlie's Angels" lost its wings over the weekend, earning just $8.6 million while the racing drama "Ford v Ferarri" topped the box office with a $31 million debut and the war film "Midway" came in second earning $8.75 million, according to Box Office Mojo. Banks -- who wrote, produced, directed, and starred as Bosley in the reboot -- hinted to the Herald Sun prior to the film's release that a form of sexism from a male-dominated audience may be to blame for its current lack of financial success. “Look, people have to buy tickets to this movie too. This movie...

Wave a flag for original movies at the box office, as Disney’s release of 20th Century Fox/Chernin Entertainment’s Ford v. Ferrari is racing to a $30M win after a $11M Friday (including $2.1M Thursday previews). That buried Sony’s franchise reboot of Elizabeth Banks’s Charlie’s Angels, which dropped well below $12M-$14M expectations with a $8.2M debut in 3rd place. James Mangold’s Ford v. Ferrari gets an A+ CinemaScore, and 4 1/2 stars and a 68% definite recommend on PostTrak. With a boost like that, it’s a great blast off for FvF in a fierce awards season and Thanksgiving holiday, which is...

In the wake of Terminator: Dark Fate’s failure at the B.O., and Paramount’s recent decision to make Beverly Cops 4 for Netflix, we have the further breakdown of cinema IP in Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot, which is tanking with a God-awful $8.2M opening, 3 Stars on Screen Engine-Comscore’s PostTrak, and a B+ Cinemascore. The Elizabeth Banks-directed-written and produced pic is also opening in 27 offshore markets, China being one where it’s also bombing, with a $6M two-day take in second place behind local title Somewhere Winter ($8.8M). All of this is primed to further spur a WTF reaction and anxiety...

In 2019, we can’t afford to not get political, even with escapist entertainment. So even though Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels reboot is a high-stakes, globe-trotting spy thriller comedy, she still made sure to send a message with extreme real-world ties within the story about female spies: “Believe women.” Letting female rage express itself was one of the most important aspects of the new installment of the Charlie’s Angels franchise, Banks, who directed, wrote and co-stars, tells Collider along with a small group of journalists. “One of the ingredients of this movie was supporting and believing women,” she says. “We literally...

Despite the wretched fates of recent Knight Rider and Bionic Woman remakes, tenacious TV execs keep attempting to revamp old shows for a millennial audience. In Charlie's Angels, the latest rebirth (premiering Thursday at 10 p.m. on ABC), actresses Minka Kelly, Rachel Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh step into the butt-kicking, private-investigator shoes of Farrah Fawcett and Co. By most accounts, it doesn't go well: Critics are already proclaiming the straightforward series "offensively bland" and "DOA (dumb on arrival)." Is Charlie's Angels doomed to suffer the TV remake curse? Yep. Especially with writing this bad: The new crimefighting trio is burdened...

John Forsythe moved on to some movies..the Glass Web, Captive City and one of my favorites, Escape from Fort Bravo. He also was in a movie that was not only odd for John Forsythe, but also odd for Alfred Hitchcock. It was called "the Trouble with Harry". It's about a dead body that keeps showing up and disappearing again.

LOS ANGELES – John Forsythe, the handsome, smooth-voiced actor who made his fortune as the scheming oil tycoon in TV's "Dynasty" and the voice of the leader of "Charlie's Angels" has died after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was 92.

Anybody seen "Charlie's Angels - Full Throttle?"I wasted the full price of admission yesterday on this over-hyped crapola. Sony Pictures just blew millions on making the film. The final cut was not ready for even a preview release in my humble opinion. I censor my personal disgust with the movie. Only Demi Moore put in a star quality effort in my personal opinion. She stole the movie and looks better than ever. Looks like the producers may try a sequel with Demi returning again next year. As a side note: In the past four or five years I have noticed...

Former Charlie's Angels star Jaclyn Smith is fighting back after undergoing surgery for breast cancer. The Hollywood actress, 54, was devastated when a routine check-up last month revealed a lump -- forcing her to have a lumpectomy and radiation treatment five days a week at a California clinic. But now the mother of two -- who played streetwise detective Kelly Garrett in the seventies TV series -- has flown to Europe with friends to rest and fight the disease. Her surgeon husband Dr. Brad Allen reveals, "She's fine and doing great. She caught it early and is taking a safe...
