A woman from Cornwall is being hailed a hero after saving a family from drowning … while topless. As one of Jessica Layton’s friends put it, “not all heroes wear capes, some of them don’t even wear bikini tops”. The 28-year-old from Penzance was sunbathing on naturist beach Pedn Vounder, near Porthcurno, yesterday (Tuesday, June 23) when the drama happened. She told Cornwall Live: “It was just after 3pm and the tide was coming in. I decided to go for a final dip before going home." “I was topless in the sea when I saw two young women struggling to...

Democrats say the president should use his emergency powers to mandate that everyone must wear a mask in public to improve our health and our economy. Ok, if we're now using emergency powers to negate the constitution and separation of powers, there are lots of things the president can do improve our health and our economy. For example: He can declare a total tax holiday for the next six months (hmmm... make it retractive to the first of the year), including all federal, state and local income taxes, payroll taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes, fuel taxes, telephone...

On Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leading expert in infection diseases in the U.S., testified before Congress amid growing alarm surrounding the 80% spike in confirmed COVID-19 infections in the past two weeks. About halfway through the session, Sen. Elizabeth Warren asked Fauci for a direct assessment of where the country could be headed if the surge in cases is not abated. He did not mince words. “We are now having 40-plus thousand new cases a day,” Fauci said. “I would not be surprised if we go up to 100,000 a day if this does not turn around. And so...

  • Any Freepers have experience with Amazon Audible? (Vanity)

I am thinking about subscribing to Amazon's Audible but thought I would be wise to ask the opinions of any Freepers who might subscribe (or did so previously) . I have read a good many books on tape over the years and actually kind of like it. As I get older, I noticed my eyes get tired of reading hard copy and I don't read as much as I used to. And I was thinking that Audible might be the way to go.Any advice/comments sure would be welcome.

A number of studies have linked TMAO to heart disease, however, until now it hasn’t been clear exactly how this metabolite causes cardiovascular damage. A robust new study, published in the journal Hypertension, is offering one of the first thorough mechanistic investigations illustrating how TMAO damages the cardiovascular system. “Our work shows for the first time that not only is this compound directly impairing artery function, it may also help explain the damage to the cardiovascular system that naturally occurs with age,” says Vienna Brunt, first author on the new study.

We just passed additional benefits for our welfare deadbeats, meth heads, etc. 70 counties voted against it. It passed with only 7 counties supporting it, largely those in or around our universities. And one of those college towns, Norman, has the University of Oklahoma (30,000 students total all campuses). The city just terminated a number of police positions so that they could have money for "community outreach." Oklahoma, for Pete's sake!

I cannot believe I missed my own anniversary. I joined FR 22 years ago, during the height of the Clinton Impeachment. So many great memories. Met Henry Hyde with some local Illinois Freepers, protested Clinton when he was here in Chicago (He turned around and looked at us when I yelled "How's Monica's throat?") and so much more. Hoping some fellow Class of '98'ers chime in and let me know they're still here.

Anybody read the classic 2008 John Ringo novel "The Last Centurion" ? With the exception of predicting a first-term President Hillary, it seems to be quite interesting in how close he came in the events of the 2019-2020 timeframe. Chinese superflu spreads in a global pandemic? Yup. Sunspot minumum causes global climate shift (cooler)? Yup. Parts of cities in the USA declaring themselves as 'autonomous zones' ? You betcha! He thought it would be in Detroit instead of Seattle, but other than that, he was very accurate. Here's a little quote: Somehow Kuwazi Jones, aka half a dozen names ending...

Fox News host Tucker Carlson delivered a stark warning Tuesday concerning the direction of the country if Republicans were unwilling to stand up and fight. “Non-Democrats in America are in peril,” Carlson said as he opened his show with a monologue addressing the Democratic Party’s plan — from allowing illegal immigrants to vote, to packing the Supreme Court — in order to seize and keep control. Your shoes may collect disenfectant. I went to a local hospital (Medical Center) for outpatient lab work. That night both my cats got sick. My cats tend to rub their noses against my shoes. Cats are fortunate in that they will 'throw up' when exposed to poisons -- at least some of the time. Small children might play with Mommy's or Daddy's shoes. I know some places have gone overboard spraying with disenfectants on surfaces/floors. After going out, I try to take off my shoes as soon as I can, and place them in a cardboard box. Today, I washed...

Joe Biden gave a rare public speech in his home state of Delaware today and afterwards took questions from reporters in what ended up proving to be a disastrous press conference. Various video clips from the presser showed Biden, the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, at times appearing out of sorts and unsure of himself. In one clip, Biden awkwardly admits he was given a list of reporters to call on by his campaign staffers: Trump War Room - Text TRUMP to 88022 @TrumpWarRoom Awkward! Toronto police say a man was arrested after he attended a protest against anti-Black racism in blackface on Saturday. The man showed up to the event at Nathan Phillips Square and was told to leave by demonstrators. The man claimed he “was not trying to be disruptive” despite his highly-offensive appearance. He had water thrown on his face before Toronto police officers escorted him away. Police initially told Global News he was arrested for breach of the peace and charged, but have since said no charges have been laid and “inquiries continue.” Various demonstrations were held throughout Toronto on Saturday...
