Another uncertainty for climate models – different results on different computers using the same code Posted on July 27, 2013     |     by Anthony Watts New peer reviewed paper finds the same global forecast model produces different results when run on different computers Did you ever wonder how spaghetti like this is produced and why there is broad disagreement in the output that increases with time? Increasing mathematical uncertainty from initial starting conditions is the main reason. But, some of it might be due to the fact that while some of the models share common code,...

Is the snowstorm back on for this week? I think so, in moderate form. What looked like a monster storm initially, then a storm that was pushed farther out to sea, is now coming back around this morning. So, what happened? Yesterday, I read a theory about a problem with the computer models. It was presented by Meteorologist Henry Margusity from Accuweather. Basically, the impending eruption of Mt. Redoubt in Alaska has diverted intercontinental flights.

Yes, kids, science is a wonderful thing. But not nearly as wonderful as climate modeling, which can perform supernatural miracles. Honest! Climate modeling can raise the level of the oceans (even without Obama's intervention), it can burn up the planet a hundred years from now, and Shazzam! -- the models can save us again -- all without leaving your video games, and without the benefit of the real-world data that you need for boring old regular science. At least, that's what Nature -- the oldest science journal in the world, going back to Isaac Newton -- now claims. According to...

What Exactly Are the Global Warming Models Saying? By Anthony Lupo It's fright month for adherents of global warming who, following upon Russia's failure to meet the Sept. 6 deadline for signing a global treaty to curb greenhouse gas emissions, apparently want to scare the public at large to pressure the Bush administration to support such measures. Taking aim at a key electoral state -- Florida -- a former British Cabinet minister, Stephen Byers, opined that the United States was already experiencing the effects of global warming with the spate of hurricanes that have inundated or threatened that state's coasts....
