The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has given its prestigious award for Public Engagement with Science to climate scientist, Michael E. Mann. No, this is not a joke – though it should be. That’s Michael Mann as in the creator of possibly the most discredited artefact in climate science history: the ludicrous, fabricated “Hockey Stick.” That’s Michael Mann, the litigious activist and vexatious Twitter troll who dismisses any scientist who disagrees with him as a “denier”; who was exposed in the Climategate emails trying to ruin the careers of his opponents and attempting to shut down the...

Now that the weekend has passed and the cries of “the arse is really out of ‘er this time” have echoed throughout the stratosphere, the hacked e-mails turn out to not reveal much of anything (the only exception is possibly the alleged deleting of e-mails in regards to an FOI request) – or so I thought. I was feeling fairly smart when I came across the smoking gun! I must now say that I was wrong. There is strong evidence of alleged fraud in the e-mails from the CRU hack. I stand corrected. That is me on the right.
  • Glimmer of hope for consensus climate honesty is short-lived

Deplorable track record in predicting a great deal of warming The true mark of a theory is without doubt its ability to predict phenomena. --Baron Cuvier, 1822 Do not knowingly mislead, or allow others to be misled, about scientific matters. Present and review scientific evidence, theory or interpretation honestly and accurately. --Proposed scientific code of ethics For one giddy, almost magical moment, I thought the “consensus” climate science community, or at least a small portion of it, had finally come to its senses. I should have known better. The almost-magical moment came on reading a headline in the U.K. Guardian...

Iceland fears bears that go with the floe By Gethin Chamberlain, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: 12:46am GMT 04/02/2007 The oceans may be warming and air temperatures rising, but in recent days Iceland has bucked the global climate trend. Thick pack ice, the like of which has not been seen for decades, stretched into the western fjords as temperatures plummeted and a bitter wind blew in from -Greenland. The ice has proved a headache for fishermen, who have been unable to put to sea, but it is what comes with pack ice that has caused most concern: polar bears. People living...
  • Mysterious Arctic skull raises questions about what animals once roamed North

IQALUIT, Nunavut (CP) - A mysterious skull discovered on the edge of the Arctic Circle has sparked interest in what creatures roamed Baffin Island in the distant past, and what life a warming climate may support in the future. Andrew Dialla, a resident of Pangnirtung, Nunavut, says he found the skull protruding from the frozen tundra during a walk near the shore with his daughter about a month ago. The horned skull is about the size of a man's fist. It resembles a baby caribou skull, except at that age, a caribou wouldn't have antlers, researchers and elders have pointed...
  • What planet are the eco-cultists on? (Kyoto)

Is it just me or are the global warming headlines starting to overheat a little? The Independent on Sunday gave its report on the Montreal climate conference the somewhat overwrought title: "What planet are you on, Mr Bush? (And do you care, Mr Blair?)" Nothing in the rather dull article underneath justified the hectoring hysteria. And, to be honest, I've no real idea what it means. Is the IoS asking whether Mr Blair cares what planet Mr Bush is on? Well, no doubt he'd be startled to hear the President's moving to Pluto, but I expect he'd take it in...
