Rep. Adam B. Schiff said Thursday he’s uncertain when the Democratic memo concerning alleged surveillance abuses will be released and he wouldn’t say whether he’ll work on it next week while Congress is out of town. His comments come roughly one week after the White House refused to release the memo, saying sensitive information in the memo as drafted would betray national security interests. But with Congress being out on recess next week, and the White House potentially having five days to review the edited version, the memo may not get released until next month — if at all.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee said the FBI is being too heavy handed in redacting information included in a memo that Democrats compiled to offer a point-by-point rebuttal of a GOP memo released earlier this month. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) suggested the FBI is using too much red ink to try to block any new information in the memo from being made public. "The FBI has identified in the memo, in our response, essentially everything that isn't already a matter of public record that wasn't already declassified," Schiff told reporters during a breakfast sponsored by the Christian...

Letter at link. President Trump is not ready to approve the release of a Democratic memo meant to rebut a controversial document released by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee last week, the White House announced. White House counsel Don McGahn announced the decision in a letter to House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Friday. "Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5th Memorandum, because the Memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time," McGahn wrote.

Video at link. The House Intelligence Committee on Monday voted unanimously to release a memo drafted by Democrats to rebut a GOP-crafted document alleging surveillance abuses at the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). The 10-page classified document now goes to President Trump, who has five days to block its release if he so chooses. It remains an open question whether he will do so. Trump on Friday declassified the Republican document, which was drafted by staff for House Intel Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.). Trump claimed the memo “totally vindicates” him in the ongoing investigation into...
