Actor Alec Baldwin has filed a lawsuit in California against several individuals associated with the "Rust" film, CNN reported. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot by the actor last October during a rehearsal for a scene for the movie, which was being filmed near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The lawsuit, filed Friday, is the first legal action in which Baldwin alleges wrongdoing against someone in relation to the shooting. Baldwin, who is listed as a defendant in a 2021 lawsuit by a "Rust" script supervisor, filed the cross-complaint against the production's armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, assistant director David Halls, armorer...

The sexual-harassment lawsuit filed last year by former Fox News personality Andrea Tantaros against the network’s executives has morphed into a lawsuit about the lawsuit, with Fox News now filing its own counterclaim. Tantaros, former host of “The Five” and co-host of “Outnumbered,” filed suit in August 2016, alleging retaliation after she had taken exception to inappropriate remarks directed to her by former Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. Ailes died earlier this month. “Fox News masquerades as a defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fueled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency, and...

The Green Party's 2016 Presidential candidate Jill Stein is announcing her intention to seek a "recount of votes in the battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania." The campaign's press release, posted in full below, cites "a multi-partisan effort to check the accuracy of the machine-counted vote tallies in these states in order to ensure the integrity of our elections." The announcement follows on word that leaked out yesterday at New York magazine that top electronic voting experts and election integrity advocates have been encouraging the Hillary Clinton campaign to file for similar hand-counts and forensic analyses of electronic voting...

The Obama campaign announced Friday that it is asking Attorney General Michael Mukasey to turn over any investigations of voter fraud or voter suppression to Special Prosecutor Nora Dannehy, the same special prosecutor recently appointed to investigate the U.S. attorney firing scandal. It’s the latest salvo in an escalating war over allegations of possible voter irregularities during the upcoming presidential election. “What they’re actually about is the unprecedented effort to essentially sap the American people of confidence in the voting process,” Bob Bauer, the Obama campaign’s general counsel, said Friday on a conference call. It’s the latest salvo in an...

ANN ARBOR, MI - The West Coast regional office of the Thomas More Law Center, a national, public-interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, filed a lawsuit today in federal district court in California, seeking to prevent Los Angeles County officials from removing the cross from the County's official seal. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of Mr. Ernesto Vasquez, a County employee, who objects to the removal of the cross because it sends a government-sponsored message of hostility towards Christians in violation of the United States Constitution. Attorney Charles LiMandri, director of the Law Center's West Coast regional...

SCO Media Statement Re IBM Counterclaims         THURSDAY, AUGUST 07, 2003 4:17 PM - PR NewswireLINDON, Utah, Aug 07, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via Comtex/ -- We view IBM's counterclaim filing today as an effort to distract attention from its flawed Linux business model. It repeats the same unsubstantiated allegations made in Red Hat's filing earlier this week. If IBM were serious about addressing the real problems with Linux, it would offer full customer indemnification and move away from the GPL license. As the stakes continue to rise in the Linux battles, it becomes increasingly clear that the core issue is bigger than SCO (SCOX)...
