Florida Sen. Marco Rubio decried Donald Trump's baiting and "offensive" rhetoric Saturday morning, following an eruption of violence at an event for the GOP front-runner in Chicago the previous night. "I think we also have to look at the rhetoric coming from the front-runner in the presidential campaign," Rubio told reporters in Largo, Florida. "This is a man who, in rallies, has told his supporters to basically beat up the people who are in the crowd and he will pay their legal fees. Someone who has basically encouraged people in the audience to rough up anyone who stands up and...

Marco Rubio has won the Republican caucuses in Washington D.C., according to the Associated Press. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Rubio garnered 37 percent of the vote, John Kasich got 36 percent, Donald Trump 14 percent and Ted Cruz 12 percent. There was no declared winner in the Guam Republican caucus, according to the party’s executive director. No presidential preference vote took place. Of its nine delegates, six were directly elected today and will caucus in the next several weeks to determine who they support. The remaining three delegates are Republican National Committee members. Wyoming held county conventions...

It was a worrisome question at an inopportune time: Was the nanny to Marco Rubio’s children legal? That issue sprang briefly up during Rubio’s 2010 U.S. Senate campaign, according two people aware of the situation. Yes, the nanny was legal, the campaign tells the Tampa Bay Times, but Rubio had to pay back taxes to reflect her employment, adding a new layer to his history of shaky financial management. “Marco has employed a full-time household employee since 2010 and paid all applicable taxes annually as reflected in his tax returns. She is, and has been, a permanent legal resident during...

Presidential candidate Marco Rubio on Thursday night insisted he is not dropping out of the GOP primary, despite reports that he was considering doing so just days before his home state's primary. Asked by Fox News's Megyn Kelly if he was preparing to drop out, the junior senator from Florida said, "No. I am not dropping out, I am fighting all the way through. We’re going to win Florida." He added that reports of him dropping out before Tuesday's winner-take-all primary in Florida, which will award 99 delegates, are "100 percent, categorically false." "We win Florida on Tuesday and this...

The last time I ran for office, on election night I trailed by just two points and the gap seemed to be closing. But despite my optimism, my consultant told me that it was over. I was cooked. I didn't believe him. I reminded him about the precincts not yet reporting, and the scenarios that would lead to victory. He wanted me to look at his spreadsheet, but I could see the numbers for myself and brushed him off. As the evening waned, my election night party friends slowly trickled away, until just a handful remained. Finally, I sat down...

Citing top Marco Rubio donors, Fox Business reported Wednesday that the Republican candidate will drop out of the presidential race before the crucial Florida primary if his poll numbers don’t increase in that state. “They’re saying barring some better polling… he will likely suspend before Florida. That’s what his money-men here in New York City are telling me,” host Charles Gasparino reported...

A battle is being waged within Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's campaign about whether he should even remain in the Republican presidential race ahead of his home state primary on March 15, sources say. Rubio himself is "bullish" on his odds of winning the critical primary, despite some advisers who are less hopeful and believe a loss there would damage him politically in both the short- and long-term. Conant pointed to the fact that Rubio appears to be closing in on GOP front-runner Donald Trump's lead in Florida. A Monmouth poll released Monday shows Rubio behind Trump, 38% to 30%. A...

As a member of the controversial "Gang of Eight" working up comprehensive immigration reform three years ago, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio blocked bipartisan efforts to reform the worker visa program to make sure American workers get first dibs on jobs, according to a top Senate Democrat. At a hearing on H-1B worker visas Thursday, Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois said that "a junior senator from Florida" fought to kill visa changes in the legislation that would have limited the ability of firms to replace American workers with cheaper foreign labor. "In 2013, I was part of the Gang of Eight....

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said Sunday that if Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee during the 2016 White House race, the "hounds of hell" will descend on him. "If Donald Trump were to ever become the nominee immediately the hounds of hell will descend on him, tear him apart, everything he's ever done from not releasing his taxes to all of his failed business dealings," he said on CBS's "Face the Nation." "And Hillary Clinton's going to have a clear shot to the Oval Office."

It was the biggest crowd Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) had gotten in this state, more than 1500 voters filling the floor of a downtown event center to hear him. And for 10 minutes, that crowd laughed along with Rubio as he warned them to not “lose the conservative movement to a con man.” -snip- “Rubio won’t even win his home state,” said Mark Morris, 57. Trump, by contrast, reminded him of the Oscar-winning film “Gladiator,” and of Russell Crowe’s hero Maximus. “He survives the battle, and the emperor calls him in. The emperor says, ‘I need you to go to...

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio, who has been dogged by questions over his personal finances, released portions of his tax returns Saturday, but the documents don't reveal details like which tax breaks he claimed or how much he gave to charity. -snip- Rubio’s release is aimed at increasing the pressure on GOP front-runner Donald Trump to produce his own returns, but the fact that Rubio only released partial returns may undermine his case. Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz, who has also been demanding Trump produce tax documents, missed his own self-imposed deadline of Friday for providing his returns.

KENNESAW, Ga. — Marco Rubio continued his all-out assault on Donald Trump here Saturday and vowed to remain in the race as long as it takes to stop the businessman from winning the Republican nomination. “I will do whatever it takes, I will campaign as long as it takes,” the Florida senator told a crowd of more than 7,000 people who encircled him on the sidelines of a high-school football field. “Donald Trump, a con artist, will never get control of this party.” Rubio, still looking to consolidate the anti-Trump vote and to make this five-way fight a two-man race,...

A lot can go wrong for Republican elites in the next few weeks of the primary. But the absolute worst-case scenario for them is if Donald Trump racks up a winning streak that culminates with him beating Marco Rubio in Florida. Well, that's exactly what's on track to happen, according to a newly released poll by Quinnipiac — and it's not even close. Trump beats Rubio among likely Republican primary voters in Florida 44 percent to 28 percent, the poll shows. Ted Cruz comes in third with 12 percent, John Kasich is in fourth with 7 percent, and Ben Carson...

This is one of the most difficult posts I have ever had to write. I had naively hoped that this election cycle, I would be treated to a substantive contest between a spate of highly accomplished two-term conservative governors, and Senators of great rhetorical skill acting as the ideological conscience of the bunch. As the primary wore on through the summer of 2015, it became clear that the GOP electorate was not interested in governors of accomplishment, but I still had hope for a final contest between two of my favorite Senators: Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. I hoped to...

Chris Christie has crashed, John Kasich is ghettoized, Scott Walker self-destructed and nobody bought the idea of Jeb Bush, and now all the king's horses and all the king's men - and Fox News - are trying to shove Marco Rubio down the throats of the Republican electorate. But they’ll never make the sale.
