A breakaway Pakistani faction of the militant Taliban group has claimed responsibility for an Easter Sunday bombing in a park in the eastern city of Lahore that killed 65 people. Ahsanullah Ahsan, spokesman for Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, told the Associated Press that a suicide bomber with the faction deliberately targeted the Christian community. The explosion took place near the children's rides in Gulshan-e-Iqbal park — which was crowded with Christians celebrating Easter — local police chief Haider Ashraf said. He said the explosion appeared to have been a suicide bombing, but investigations were ongoing.

A suicide bomber killed at least 65 people and injured more than 280 others, mostly women and children, at a public park in the Pakistani city of Lahore on Sunday, striking at the heart of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's political base of Punjab. The blast occurred in the parking area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, a few feet (metres) away from children's swings. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, which occurred in a busy residential area during the Easter holiday weekend. Police said it was not clear whether the attack had deliberately targeted mainly Muslim Pakistan's small Christian...

Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called on Tuesday for a “European pact for freedom and security” following the attacks in Brussels claimed by the ISIS group that killed around 35 people. “Today they hit Belgium, but they also hit the capital of the European Union,” Renzi said in a speech, vowing that “it will take months, perhaps years, but we will beat them”. […] “Europe must go all the way this time. We must invest in a common security and defense structure,” he said, adding that the debate over defense integration has been raging since 1954, when a plan to...

After the deadly attacks in Brussels, The New York Times is bringing “Islamophobia” home to describe how this will help the Democrats with Muslim voter-registration drives. A story by reporter Alan Rappeport on Friday ended with this provocative little quote from Muslim activist Reema Ahmad: “If you’re not at the dinner table, you’re on the menu.” Republicans eat Muslims? The headline in the Times was “Feeling G.O.P. Peril, Muslims Try to Get Out Vote.”Rappeport began: American Muslims are watching in growing horror as Donald J. Trump and Senator Ted Cruz battle for the Republican presidential nomination, outdoing each other with...

Kamil al-Khatib, the deputy head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, is accusing Arab officials of giving a green light to "Judaizing actions" around the al-Aqsa Mosque. He also says that the officials incite against the Islamic Movement in order to ban its activities and neutralize the group in its struggle. During an interview with the Hamas newspaper Falastin, Khatib expressed his wonder over the usefulness provided by Arab officials when "Rabbi Yehuda Glick walks around the al-Aqsa courtyard and provokes Muslims around the world?" He further claimed that "His [Glick's] settlers hold Talmudic ceremonies and settler weddings around the...

On September 5, 1986, Neerja was just two days away from her 23rd birthday. She was working her first flight as head purser on Pan Am Flight 73 when it was hijacked on the ground in Pakistan by four armed men. It was thanks to Neerja's lightning-quick thinking that the cockpit was warned and the pilots were able to escape — as is protocol — leaving the hijackers with no way to fly the plane. She also hid the passports of 41 American passengers so that the hijackers could not target them as intended; hiding some under seats and throwing...

CBN has a report and video of yesterday's protest against building a 'Cordoba House' within sight and sound of Ground Zero at the World Trade Center. Before the protest, I walked the short distance north of World Trade Center 7 to the former Burlington Coat Factory where Friday prayers are now held and the Cordoba House Islamic "cultural center" and "fun center" would be built. It struck me that the two buildings directly south of 43-45 Park Place are both 13-stories and remembered that on May 17, Debra Burlingame and Tim Brown met with the owners: "Mr. El-Gamal showed ......

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - South Florida's Jewish community is on edge over the odd behavior of two women. "These two people came into one of the temples in the community. One, if not two, walked inside the temple," said Yona Lunger of the two Middle Eastern women in question. A police report shows two women pulled up in silver Nissan Altima to Beth Israel at 770 W 40th St. The driver remained silent while the passenger was standing just outside the car. The woman that was standing outside the car asked, "Did you have services already?" The people they engaged replied,...

Mohammed Assaf, the Gazan winner of 2013's Arab Idol contest, was answering questions from fans in a Skype phone-in this week when he received a comment from an Israeli caller who said: "You should come to Israel...you have Israeli blood," the fan said. Assaf replied, "I spit on you and Israel" before going on to answer other fans' questions. It is not clear if the fan was a Jew or an Arab. "I don't want to talk about this issue too much," Assaf told The New Arab afterward. "The person who said that wanted to provoke me and it's known...

If all these candidates are going to pop off about Islam and Muslims, how’s about they at least have to do it front of one?Last Tuesday’s GOP debates were all about Muslims. The word “Islam” or derivations of it like “Islamic” were mentioned 27 times in the primetime debate and 31 times during the earlier “kid’s table” debate. If you had played a drinking game where you had to do a shot of whiskey every time the word “Islam” was uttered during those GOP debates, you would’ve been dead about 30 minutes in. And the discussion about Islam during the...

This list has been updated from 7 to 9. There is nothing yet that validates Donald Trump’s claim that on that terrible September morning “thousands and thousands” of American Muslims cheered the collapse of the World Trade Center. At worst, though, the Republican frontrunner is guilty of exaggerating. The DC Media, however, has been exposed (once again) as bald-faced liars who engaged in a 14 year cover-up. Contemporaneous reports and eyewitnesses prove once and for all that some number of Muslims did in fact celebrate the collapse of the Twin Towers. Trump was not only right on this point, but...

It did happen, and I saw it. Donald Trump is telling the truth about Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on September 11, 2001. I drove with family members though Patterson, N.J. that morning, after the planes hit. It’s not the kind of thing you forget. We witnessed people in traditional Muslim garb dancing, jumping, shouting and celebrating like their team had won the Super Bowl, just as Trump said.
