Please forgive the vanity but I have to share this... I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Article 1, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution: "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills. IIRC, the House barely passed a version of Obamacare and the Senate passed a version of their own. The House version hit a roadblock in the Senate. The Dems pulled the Senate version from reconciliation and "deemed" it passed rather than risking another vote in the House....

Gov. Jerry Brown said this afternoon that he would consider signing a budget in which the Legislature extends temporary tax increases - subject to a later vote. "That's a possibility," Brown said after meeting with local officials in Riverside. "They can do all cuts, they can have no budget, or they can... extend the taxes subject to their expiring if the people vote 'No." Brown spokeswoman Elizabeth Ashford said such a plan would still require a two-thirds vote in the Legislature. Brown has been unable to find the Republican votes necessary in either house to move forward his proposal to...

  • Congress deems us a Banana Republic

Yesterday in an interview with Fox New's Bret Baier Presidente Obama laughed off concern from people who were agast at the process Congress was using in order to deem a non-voted bill passed. The "procedural matters" are not a concern to El Presidente as long as they are able to move his beloved "ObamaCare" back to his desk to be signed into "law". However it won't become law in the United States of America; but in a transformative moment it will become the first law passed in the United Banana Republic. What made us a great nation was not the...
  • Taking the Mystery out of the "Deem Scheme"

The reporting and commentary on the Slaughter Strategy "deem scheme" stunt is based on at least one false premise. As usual, basic and fundamental error is reinforced by the media "echo chamber," with the end result being that the media and uniformed commentators (even the professionals) really don't have a clue. So much for educating the public. If you want to be correctly informed, if you care, then you must do your own homework. The professionals in the media are just talking heads. The professionals haven't even bothered to research or notice the fundamental character of a Concurrent Resolution. Not...

WASHINGTON - Debris from an obliterated U.S. spy satellite is being tracked over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans but appears to be too small to cause damage on Earth, a senior military officer said Thursday, just hours after a Navy missile scored a direct hit on the failing spacecraft. Marine Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and an expert on military space technologies, told a Pentagon news conference that officials have a "high degree of confidence" that the missile launched from a Navy cruiser Wednesday night hit exactly where intended. It was an unprecedented mission...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

Words Not to be Uttered about Islam The American branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has deemed the word Islamist unacceptable ("Constant use of ‘Islamist' overlooks real threats" is the title of an article responding to the 9/11 Commission report by a CAIR staffer, Arsalan T. Iftikhar); now, the Canadian branch has deemed the word Shari‘a, as in "Shari‘a court" unacceptable. In a press release, dated today, "CAIR-CAN Meets with Ontario Government Regarding Islamic Arbitration" (not online) the organization announces that it supports the principle behind the proposal that the Muslim community in Canada is entitled to use the...
