An Iowa appeals board has reversed a judge's ruling that a woman who disparaged Mexicans can claim unemployment benefits because such rhetoric is "common" after President Trump was elected. Angela Diers filed for unemployment after said she was fired from her job at Dexter Laundry after she said in front of co-workers that she hated “f---ing Mexicans," The Des Moines Register reported Wednesday. In 2015, as a teenager in Des Moines, Iowa, he qualified for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, the initiative spearheaded by President Barack Obama to give temporary protection to undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children. Cano-Pacheco gained DACA status and with it, a work permit, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But then he was arrested and convicted on two misdemeanor drug charges.

Des Moines police say a driver should've been driving but was texting instead...and hit a bridge, flipping his car over onto the sidewalk. It happened around 10am Monday on the Easton Boulevard bridge over Four Mile Creek near the Four Mile Community Center. FBI agents have met with leaders of an Iowa mosque about a threatening note it received in the mail. Dr. Samir Shams, the president of the Islamic Center of Des Moines, says he found the handwritten note Sunday morning.
