WASHINGTON — Lawmakers will now be required to walk through metal detectors before entering the House of Representatives chamber in the wake of the Capitol riots. The acting Sergeant At Arms announced on Tuesday afternoon that magnetometers had been placed at selected entrances to the chamber and reminded lawmakers that firearms were forbidden.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Danish museum officials say that an archaeological dig last year has revealed 365 items from the Viking era, including 60 rare coins. Danish National Museum spokesman Jens Christian Moesgaard says the coins have a distinctive cross motif attributed to Norse King Harald Bluetooth, who is believed to have brought Christianity to Norway and Denmark. Sixteen-year-old Michael Stokbro Larsen found the coins and other items with a metal detector in a field in northern Denmark.

A St. Paul couple is in critical condition after being poisoned by carbon monoxide in their home on the 1000 block of Hague Avenue. The St. Paul Fire Department said the couple's son came home and found them unconscious in their bed and called 911 around 3:50 p.m. The fire department arrived and took John Nordeen, 67, and his wife, Nancy, 62, to Hennepin County Medical Center.
