  • Bribery leave(s) indicted financial-crime suspects free from prosecution under Holder’s DOJ

A U.S. Justice Department source has told The Daily Caller that at least two DOJ prosecutors accepted cash bribes from allegedly corrupt finance executives who were indicted under court seal within the past 13 months, but never arrested or prosecuted. (snip) The bribed officials, an attorney with knowledge of the investigation told TheDC, remain on the taxpayers’ payroll at the Justice Department without any accountability. The DOJ source said Holder does not want to admit public officials accepted bribes while under his leadership.

Let's be grateful that Barack Obama's contempt for poli tics as usual is a matter of public record. Otherwise, we might be saddled with a White House that offers federal jobs to potential candidates it wants to keep out of Democratic primaries, and does it in such a crude fashion that it skirts the law. We might witness the release of pertinent news about one of the cases on the Friday before a three-day weekend in one of the oldest, most predictable PR tricks in the book. We might have to rely on a sketchy document purporting to outline the...

Dear President Obama, Every citizen with a modicum of insight into public affairs would say that America is now at a crossroads of decision about what kind of future we want for our nation - and, by extension, for the rest of the world. Whether we like it or not, you are the one who is designated by a vote of the electorate to lead us in that decision-making process. You have asked for the job, and you have proposed yourself as being competent for it. History will judge your Administration on its own merits when your term is complete,...

In a statement U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff (D-CO) was offered the possibility of three jobs by Jim Messina, the President’s deputy chief of staff. The candidate says: In September 2009, shortly after the news media first reported my plans to run for the Senate, I received a call from Jim Messina, the President’s deputy chief of staff. Mr. Messina informed me that the White House would support Sen. Bennet. I informed Mr. Messina that I had made my decision to run. Here is the email Messina sent to to Romanoff, describing three positions.

I can't believe this White House is this stupid. Coming immediately after (or for that matter, during) the entire dust up over the Joe Sestak controversy, we find out this is NOT the first time the White House not only offered someone a job to pull out of a race...but also, it was not the first time they lied about it. Andrew Romanoff was apparently offered a job to help clear the way for Michael Bennet in the Colorado Senate primary. At the time, the White House denied story:

The Chicago Machine moved to Washington and a disturbing pattern of bribery, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to corrupt the American electoral process is now synonymous with 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The latest incident is a classic quid pro quo for political advantage and subsequent coordinated cover-up to mitigate collateral damage and obstruct the truth. In this three part series, I will delve into the scandal, the blatant inconsistencies between the “coordinated” statements of involved parties, and the potential crimes commited by the Obama administration in this, and other, pay-for-play schemes. The Scandal Set in a motion by a February 18th...

Judicial Watch Statement on Sestak ScandalThu May 27, 2:40 pm ET WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement today regarding the federal position allegedly offered by the Obama White House to Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA). Rep. Sestak has claimed repeatedly that the Obama White House tried to persuade him to abandon his Democratic primary challenge to Senator Arlen Specter by offering a high-level position in the Obama administration. Rep. Sestak's allegations are extremely serious and yet we've heard nothing from the Obama White House so far but vague denials of wrongdoing and outright...

In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder today, all seven Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee "urge the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Congressman Joe Sestak's claim that a White House official offered him a job to induce him to exit the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Senator Arlen Specter." Sens. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Jon Kyl or Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma – allege that the offer would appear to violate federal criminal laws, including 18 U.S.C. 600,...

Obviously, nothing to see over here, folks. Move along now. Joe Sestak, the newly-elected Democratic Senate nominee from Pennsylvania, repeated his assertion Sunday that somebody he did not identify from the Obama White House offered him an administration job he did not detail, possibly in return for him dropping out of his undesirable primary challenge of Arlen "I Was a Republican Before I Realized I Was a Democrat" Specter. Obviously, Sestak didn't accept the offer. And Specter didn't win a primary race that he feared losing if he stayed a Republican.

Holder ducks questions on Sestak claimBy JAMES HOHMANN 5/13/10 7:47 PM EDT Attorney General Eric Holder ducked a series of questions Thursday about how the Justice Department has followed up on questions surrounding Rep. Joe Sestak’s (D-Pa.) claim that the White House offered him a high-ranking government job in exchange for dropping out of a contested Democratic Senate primary. Sestak first made the claim during a television interview in early February, and he repeated it during an appearance on MSNBC in early March. He’s largely declined to elaborate on it since then. At a House Judiciary committee hearing, Rep. Darrell...

Washington (CNSNews.com) – Attorney General Eric Holder would not answer whether the Justice Department is looking into an allegation by Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) that the White House offered him an administration job as an enticement to drop his primary challenge against Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.). After five minutes of evading the question from Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Holder’s final answer was no comment. “It’s the department’s policy not to comment on any matters to say there is an investigation, to say there is not an investigation,” Holder said during a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee. “That’s not the...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has set the stage for a major vote Monday morning at 1:00 AM – one that would require the support of 60 Senators. That would, if all goes according to Senator Reid’s plan, set up a late-night Christmas Eve vote on final passage. Senator Reid also used a rare procedure to block any further amendments from being offered, debated or voted upon. When it comes time for Senators to cast their vote at 1:00AM Monday morning, shortly after Sunday Night Football ends and most Americans are in bed, they will have had less than...
