Joe Biden is now the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, after Bernie Sanders suspended his campaign Wednesday morning. The next big question in the race - beyond when and how Biden will be formally nominated amid a pandemic, of course - is who is going to fill out the ticket as Biden’s vice presidential running mate. The pick carries unusual importance, especially given Biden, who will turn 78 shortly after Election Day, would be the oldest president ever elected by far. We already know one thing about that pick: It will be a woman, as Biden pledged in a recent...

Michael Jackson the King of pop died recently. I thought I'd share what I know about this. Jacko as some of you know faced accusations of child molestation. Did it really happen? The answer is no. You see several years ago I worked for an organization based in Boston called the Liberty Task force. It was a human rights anti terror group. We studied Michael Jackson's case. It turns out that the problem was not sexual deviancy but a psychological problem brought on from an abusive and non existent childhood. At best it could be called inappropriate behavior. Michael Jackson...

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.—Donald Trump will soon be Ed McMahon's landlord. Trump announced Thursday he would save the television personality's Beverly Hills mansion from foreclosure by buying it for an undisclosed amount and leasing it to McMahon. The developer told the Los Angeles Times he doesn't know McMahon personally, but acted out of compassion because helping out "would be an honor." McMahon, 85, who was Johnny Carson's sidekick on the "Tonight" show for three decades, has not worked for about 18 months because of a neck injury. He defaulted on $4.8 million in mortgage loans with Countrywide Financial Corp.

Decades ago, the Publishers Clearing House launched a campaign to give away $1 million with Ed McMahon and Dick Clark as spokesmen. In addition to the prize and fat payments to the sponsors, PCH had millions in costs for its advertising and direct mail. That campaign offers a solution to the illegal alien problem in the US today. Some people wondered when the “Ed McMahon” campaign began, how that made good economic sense. I was working in direct mail advertising then. I knew exactly why it made sense. PCH were (and still are) spending tens of millions of dollars in...

MIDI - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES - click on Bob Hope Thanks for the memories You really had no peers You brought late night cheers The bits were funny and sometimes you brought us all to tears We thank you for that Thanks for the memories Those funny things you said We laughed off our head We stayed up late and so, of course, at work next day we're dead We thank you for that You were the king of the night time...you're always the one we would choose We missed you when you retired...no one could fill your...

John Kerry has based his claim of economic malfeasance by President Bush on the assertion that “three million jobs have been lost” on his watch. The original claim was 2.7 million jobs lost, but the quarrel here is not over the rounding up to an even three million. Ed McMahon has established over the last four decades that the Kerry claim is false. We’ll get back to McMahon in a moment. First a dose of statistics. The Department of Labor has a long and well-earned reputation for accuracy in its statistical analyses. But it has three different ways of measuring...
