Republicans seem far more excited to vote in next year's presidential elections than Democrats are, suggesting the same sort of enthusiasm gap that pushed the GOP to big gains in the 2010 elections. The numbers were part of the latest CNN-ORC International poll that found 62 percent of self-identified Republicans were extremely or very enthusiastic about voting for president, while only 48 percent of Democrats said the same thing. Independents, meanwhile, are the least eager, with just 39 percent saying they're excited to vote, and a whopping 21 percent saying they're "not at all enthusiastic." Faced with reports of faltering...

Two of the latest stories about the coming election jump off our screens and support each other. In recent weeks those who make their living forecasting wehat will happen in November’s elections have unanimously moved their predictions toward a bigger Republican victory. In mid August the aggregate number of Republican victories they foresaw was a 103 seat pick up. Now a month and a half later they have added more than a seat per week as things get worse and worse for the Democrats. The new Democrat kill number is now 111 who can easily lose. They so deeply don’t...
  • The sound you hear is the tsunami of Republican votes building by the day

Here’s some tangible easy to understand data that clearly explains why Republicans will win and win big in November. Republican primary turnout has been huge. We have to go back to 1930 to find numbers like these. That’s eighty years since Republican primary voters have outnumbered Democrat primary votes as we have seen thus far this cycle. The edge in GOP turnout has not been by a few votes, it has been by enough votes to carry a presidential election. The percentage of Republican primary votes increased by 22% over the 2006 primaries results. Republican’s increased their turnout in 30...
  • Republicans Up By 10 In Generic Ballot

The electoral tidal wave heading for Democrats in November is growing more powerful by the day. The latest bad news for Team Obama/Reid/Pelosi comes from Gallup in the form of its weekly generic ballot. Among registered voters, Republicans lead Democrats by 10 points (51% - 41%); the largest margin in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress. But Election Day could end even worse than that for Democratic candidates.
  • “Enthusiasm gap” replacing the “Generic ballot” as crystal ball for November’s results?

The 1994 election delivered a 53 seat pickup to House Republicans and gave us an understanding of the value of generic ballot surveys. This is a measure of whether Americans will vote for a Democrat or Republican in the next Congressional election. Since Democrats ALWAY have a “generic” edge in expressed voter preference both sides agree that if the Democrats are at +2 the Parties are essentially tied. The 1994 election saw the Republicans at +6 which it led to their landslide victory. Over the years, the generic index has been a fairly accurate predictor of election results. Nevertheless the...
  • GOP frets over Democratic fundraising

WASHINGTON - For Republicans, watching Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama fight for supremacy in fundraising is not just a spectator sport. It is a look into the future, and the GOP isn't cheering. Obama and Clinton together raked in as much as seven times as much cash in February as John McCain, the all-but-certain Republican nominee. The Democrats, particularly Obama, are also developing a broad base of fervent donors whose help goes beyond sending money. Some Republicans are sounding alarms. "Since the midterm election of 2006, Democrats have had an enthusiasm gap with Republicans," said GOP strategist Scott Reed....
