Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already lost his invasion of Ukraine, which Blinken says he remains confident will come out victorious in the war. “And the reason that I remain very confident in Ukraine’s ultimate success, which is that they’re fighting for their country, for their future for their freedom, the Russians are not,” Blinken told ABC’s Jonathan Karl on “This Week.” “And keep in mind, Putin has already lost in what he was trying to achieve. He was trying to erase Ukraine from the map and its independence, subsume it into...

See video at link. People are starting to stand up to this nonsense on our city streets. Demand "equal space" for our own "murals." "Erase and Deface" is happening all over. We can play this game too.

Do the final credits beckon for TV cop shows? With police violence in America on the front pages following the death of George Floyd, the gloss has clearly gone off that prime time favourite, the crime procedural. As protests sweep America, there have been calls to put the long-running Law and Order: SVU in cold storage. The criticism is that it presents an unrealistically rosy portrait of the police and their handling of sex offences. Law and Order depicts an “alternative version of reality where the justice system works the way it’s supposed to,” said Rolling Stone writer EJ Dickson...
  • In Final-Hour Order, Court Rules That Alabama Can Destroy Digital Voting Records After All

Alabama is allowed to destroy digital voting records created at the polls during today's U.S. Senate election after all. At 1:36 p.m. Monday, a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge issued an order directing Alabama election officials to preserve all digital ballot images created at polling places across the state today. But at 4:32 p.m. Monday, attorneys for Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill and Ed Packard, the state administrator of elections, filed an "emergency motion to stay" that order, which the state Supreme Court granted minutes after Merrill and Packard's motion was filed. By granting the stay, the court effectively...
  • Birth of new brain cells might erase babies’ memories

New neurons may explain why adults can’t remember being infants Unlike the proverbial elephants, babies always forget. Infants’ memories may be wiped clean by the genesis of new brain cells, a study in rodents suggests. The findings offer an explanation for why people can’t recall memories from early childhood, a century-old mystery. The study’s authors “make a very interesting and compelling case,” says neuroscientist and psychiatrist Thomas Insel, director of the National Institute for Mental Health in Bethesda, Md. “It’s just truly fascinating,” he says. “Nobody has actually looked at this very carefully before.” More than 100 years ago, Sigmund...

I don’t worry that some of my information can be easily accessed on the web. I think I’m typical of most people in my generation who have grown accustomed to taking privacy into their own hands. My rule of thumb is this: if it’s a free service on the internet, you’re probably the product. In many instances, that’s not a terrible trade off. Facebook, for example, uses my information to target ads to my profile, but I can think of worse violations of my privacy in exchange for an easy platform to share information with my friends. Google is revising...

  • SSDs Prove Tough To Erase (Solid state drives)

Techniques that reliably erase hard disk drives don't produce the same results for solid state drives, warn University of California at San Diego researchers.Solid state drives (SSDs) have a small security problem: they're tough to erase. That warning comes from researchers at the University of California at San Diego. "Sanitization is well-understood for traditional magnetic storage, such as hard drives and tapes," said the researchers' in their study summary. "Newer solid state disks, however, have a much different internal architecture, so it is unclear whether what has worked on magnetic media will work on SSDs as well." Accordingly, the researchers...
  • Researchers discover how to erase memory (my question: can it be weaponized?)

(PhysOrg.com) -- Researchers working with mice have discovered that by removing a protein from the region of the brain responsible for recalling fear, they can permanently delete traumatic memories. Their report on a molecular means of erasing fear memories in rodents appears this week in Science Express. “When a traumatic event occurs, it creates a fearful memory that can last a lifetime and have a debilitating effect on a person’s life,” says Richard L. Huganir, Ph.D., professor and director of neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. “Our finding describing these...

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 22 (HealthDay News) -- It sounds like science fiction, by scientists say it might one day be possible to erase undesirable memories from the brain, selectively and safely. Using a complex genetic approach, U.S. and Chinese researchers believe they have done just that in mice, but the feat is far from being tested on humans. Study co-author Joe Z. Tsien, co-director of the Brain & Behavior Discovery Institute at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, says the "work reveals a molecular mechanism of how [memory deletion] can be done quickly and without doing damage to brain cells." The...
  • Rumsfeld: U.S. Must Go 'All the Way' to Counter Terrorism

WASHINGTON, March 23, 2006 – The only way to prevail in the war against violent extremists is "if we are in it all the way," Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Pentagon reporters today. "We can, we must and we will see it through to completion," he said. Rumsfeld borrowed a quote from Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who, two days after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, acknowledged that all Americans were in World War II together. "We are in it all the way," Roosevelt said. "We must share together the bad news and the good news, the defeats and the victories, the...

The government convened this morning to discuss the controversial report on the "unauthorized neighborhoods." It accepted the report's principles - but not its recommended "methods of operation." The report, prepared by former State Prosecution attorney Talia Sasson, has caused a backlash against all the bodies involved in building "unauthorized outposts" in Judea and Samaria. The report purports to show a series of illegalities perpetrated by many different government offices and bodies that were involved in funding, constructing and providing services to budding Jewish neighborhoods in Judea and Samaria. Arutz-7 commentator Haggai Huberman noted, however, that Sasson incorrectly included all the...

I am trying to erase my hard drive and start over. I have done nothing but transfer one hard drive's info to the next for the last 8 years and now have an opportunity to wipe it clean and start all over. I have backed up the files that I needed to. My problem is that I have Windows XP and cannot get to a DOS prompt. Plus I cannot change my BIOS settings for some reason to boot from disk. If anyone can help me I would be most appreciative.

Two reporters ordered to erase tapes while covering Scalia speech By DENISE GRONES Associated Press Writer HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Two reporters were ordered Wednesday to erase their tape recordings of a speech by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia at a Mississippi high school. Scalia has long barred television cameras from his speeches, but does not always forbid newspaper photographers and tape recorders. On Wednesday, he did not warn the audience at the high school that recording devices would be forbidden. During the speech, a woman identifying herself as a deputy federal marshal demanded that a reporter for The...

I've tried everything I can think of and continue to become more and more locked by a virus. Since it won't allow me internet access I'm using another station. Time to abort and erase. Haven't cleaned off an HD for a long time and want to get this over with. Made a Windows start-up disc before it became critical. Using 98se and 6.22. What's the best way to do this? Thanks TC
