Millions of American Christians learned that they are, in fact, disloyal to God and to the Ten Commandments because of President Donald Trump, thanks to Thursday’s blockbuster op-ed from Christianity Today and its editor-in-chief Mark Galli. Reading this piece, I was struck not only by the acceptance of dishonest narratives from corporate media but its contempt for believers who prefer Trump to govern them over the woke crowd — those evangelists whose dogmas on gender, abortion, and socialism provide much condemnation and no hope for atonement. And yet, those issues are dwarfed substantially by the stunning hypocrisy of Galli’s judgment...

The Rev. Jim Wallis, founder of the Christian magazine Sojourners and a spiritual adviser to President Barack Obama, will be one of the key speakers at an interfaith event related to Ferguson Sunday (Oct. 12) at St. Louis University. In the following Q&A — edited for clarity and length — Wallis talks about how faith plays a role in his decision to come to St. Louis and how his past involvement in the civil rights era compares to today. Q: Can you tell me how you became involved in Ferguson, and what you expect from your visit? A: It turns...

Evangelical Left potentates are now rallying to Obama's nomination of pro-abortion rights Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Health and Human Services Secretary. Describing themselves as "top Christian leaders" in their news release, they affirmed Sebelius as part of their ongoing dedication to "finding common ground solutions to reduce the number of abortions in America."

A new group of Evangelical Left elites are promoting U.S. disarmament and peacemaking, as the Gospels supposedly command. It is called “The Matthew 5:21-26 Project: Evangelicals for National Security through International Cooperation.” The cited Scripture urges believers to reconcile quickly with adversaries before allowing disputes to simmer. In fact, Jesus gave this command to individuals, not national rulers. The Gospel commands individual believers to forgive enemies so as to model God’s love and safeguard their own souls. Exercising a different vocation in their statecraft, rulers are responsible for defending the lives and livelihoods of their citizenry.

IT TAKES A CERTAIN AMOUNT of chutzpah to write a book called God's Politics. But you have only to read a few pages of Jim Wallis's new bestseller by that name to discover that it isn't actually about the politics of an all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful deity at all. Instead, it's 384 pages of Jim's politics, and Jim (with a couple of notable exceptions) is a pretty average, down-the-line leftist who, by the way, believes in God.Wallis is a hot property lately on the talk-show, book-tour circuit and, more important, in Democratic party backrooms. Still smarting from their rebuff by "values...

Dear Friends, At many points in our nation's history, from the struggle for the abolition of slavery, to civil rights, to the effort to fight poverty, the progressive faith community has come together as a movement to offer our nation a message of hope. Our nation needs us again. We are sacrificing our sacred values to the narrow and ideological agenda of a few - values of truth at all times, justice for all people, and community among all nations and faiths. In the midst of the most important election in a generation, some vocal religious groups are trying to...

Professors oppose Bush `theology' - By Marshall Allen , Staff Writer PASADENA -- A group of Fuller Theological Seminary professors, saying they are responding to a "grave moral crisis' in America, are signing a statement opposing President Bush's alleged convergence of God, church and nation and what they call his "theology of war.' Glen Stassen, Fuller's Louis B. Smedes professor of Christian ethics, said Bush's religious rhetoric confuses the cause of Christianity with that of a nation at war. For instance, in Bush's 2002 State of the Union address the president labeled Iran, Iraq and North Korea the "axis of...
