Great footage! The perspective is little deceiving on video #1 with the guy walking in front of the scene circa 3:15, but check out the boulder shot into the air circa 3:07...that is a huge piece of rock and it just hangs there. Amazing! [sorry, couldn't get the links clickable] www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ydnLkVvfZM&feature>video #1 www.vimeo.com/11673745
  • Earthquakes/tremors near the Eyjafjallajökull volcano very active in the last few hours

Since the Icelandic volcanic eruption weeks ago, I have been monitoring this site: http://en.vedur.is/earthquakes-and-volcanism/earthquakes/myrdalsjokull/ The tremors in the last few hours are the most I have seen in weeks. The concern is that when this volcano erupts, Katla has erupted in the past. Katla is one of Iceland's "Two Angry Sisters" and is implicated in the social and economic conditions which led to the French Revolution. This geological activity could have a dramatic impact on the economic survival of Europe and for the false profits of Global Warming. Other sites which provide up to the minute information on the geology...
  • Eyjafjallajökull Ash Wreaking Havoc Across Europe, And It Could Get Even Worse

Eyjafjallajökull Ash Wreaking Havoc Across Europe, And It Could Get Even Worse Vincent Fernando, CFA May. 10, 2010, 6:48 AM Be aware that Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull continues to open and shut airports across Europe, causing delays. It's all pretty unpredictable of course, and if you're planning on air travel in the region there's really nothing that can do to avoid this, but just have a back-up plan since anything can happen. Also expect more pain for related industries. Airwise: Trans-atlantic flights remain affected and are required to undergo significant rerouting, leading to some delays, the agency said earlier in a statement....
  • Iceland Volcano Pictures: Lightning Adds Flash to Ash - Fire, Ice, and Lightning

A blast of white-hot lightning crackles over Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano on Sunday. Clouds of volcanic ash from Eyjafjallajökull have snarled European air traffic for nearly a week.
  • Iceland's farmers try to save herds from toxic ash ( Eyjafjallajokull )

In Europe, the volcanic ash danger travels at high altitudes, but for Iceland's farmers the problem is very much on the ground. Farmers across the region where the volcano erupted this week under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier have been scrambling to protect their herds from inhaling or ingesting the ash, which can cause internal bleeding, long-term bone damage and teeth loss. Near Skogar, south of the volcano, the ash blew down from the mountain, blotting out the sunlight and covering everything - pastures, animals and humans - in a thick, gray paste.
  • UK 'no-fly zone' to last at least another day ( Eyjafjallajökull )

The Government indicated tonight that the Royal Navy could be used to ferry passengers back to Britain, as the ban on UK flights was extended until at least 7pm tomorrow. The announcements came on the day that international airlines and pilots demanded a relaxation of the no-fly zone which has grounded most flights across northern Europe for the past four days. Forecasters have warned that the cloud of ash from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, in southern Iceland, could remain over Britain until at least the end of next week. The International Air Transport Association has warned that airlines will lose at...

Wake Up People This Volcano Is About More Than Flights, It's About Agriculture, Energy, And Politics The Oil Drum Apr. 18, 2010, 10:53 AM While it is early in the morning in Europe the following picture shows the impact of the volcano in Iceland on European air traffic (as of Thursday), if you compare Northern (none) and Southern (60) European flights. The blue crosses are airports. The volcano has already had a stunning impact on Europe, although articles about it are already dropping below the lead headlines. There is a thought that the plume may last another five days, and...
