Twitter CEO Elon Musk said employees for the platform had a Slack channel called “Fauci Fan Club” for those who supported Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and President Biden’s chief medical adviser. Musk made the comment in a Twitter post on Wednesday as part of a thread in which he accused Fauci of backing gain-of-function research, in which an organism is genetically modified to enhance some biological function. It can strengthen a pathogen’s ability to cause disease to allow scientists to understand its potential for starting a pandemic and inform public health...

My late friend and colleague Hilton Kramer used to tell the story about how Time magazine (remember Time?) would prep its photographers before sending them off to snap the likeness of someone they were profiling. The magazine didn't just want a portrait. It was always "Good guy" or "Bad guy." This was well known. So when Time sent someone to photograph Norman Podhoretz, the former editor of Commentary who had lately shed his left-wing opinions and emerged as a powerful voice on the Right, Norman had the wit to ask "Good guy or bad guy?" The photographer shook his head...

Duran Duran are suing their own fan club for breach of contract, claiming that it did not pay the band its promised revenue. In 2010, the group signed a contract with Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc., based in a town about 30 minutes outside of Chicago, that guaranteed the band 75 percent of all profits, according to Chicago Sun-Times, while the company kept the rest. Although part of the suit alleges that the company failed to keep precise fan-club records, collect membership fees and keep accurate accounting, Simon Le Bon & Co. claim that the company owes them approximately $40,000 in...

A mentally ill man with a homemade security pass was able to get within metres of U.S. Vice President during a security breach at the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, CTV News has learned. As dozens of police held back thousands of protestors outside of BC Place in Vancouver, a 48-year-old British Columbia man slipped past several layers of security inside the venue, said RCMP Assistant Commissioner Bud Mercer, the head of the 2010 Integrated Security Unit (ISU).
