  • 2018 GOP House Intel memo revealing FBI KNEW Steele dossier was fake turned out to be spot-on

Panned by Democrats at the time as well as their enablers in the establishment media, a memo then-majority Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee released in February 2018 — the so-called “FISA memo” — implicating FBI malfeasance in the Spygate scandal turned out to be highly accurate, according to information contained in blockbuster reports this week. On Friday we reported, citing The Hill‘s John Solomon, that former No. 4 Justice Department official Bruce Ohr told ranking FBI officials that the so-called “Russia dossier” used by the bureau to justify obtaining FISA court warrants to spy on the 2016 Trump campaign...

    Washington Examiner ^ | Feb 21, 2018 | Diana Stancy Correll
Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Thursday he aims to have a memo written by Democrats on the panel released this week, after President Trump declined to release it earlier in the month. Democrats say their memo was written as a rebuttal to provide greater context to a Republican memo that was released earlier this month, which outlines abuses by the FBI and the Justice Department against the Trump campaign. "I actually hope that we'll do that in the next few days,” Schiff, a Democrat from California, said at an event Tuesday night called...

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee said the FBI is being too heavy handed in redacting information included in a memo that Democrats compiled to offer a point-by-point rebuttal of a GOP memo released earlier this month. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) suggested the FBI is using too much red ink to try to block any new information in the memo from being made public. "The FBI has identified in the memo, in our response, essentially everything that isn't already a matter of public record that wasn't already declassified," Schiff told reporters during a breakfast sponsored by the Christian...

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Tuesday night that members of his party won’t revise their countermemo, despite requests from the White House to do so. “We’re not going to make any revisions to it. The only question is what redactions will be made. And obviously we’d like to keep those to a minimum,” Schiff told reporters. “The White House has a different interest. I think their interest is in redacting anything that doesn’t reflect well on the White House,” Schiff added.

A classified memo compiled by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee was not authorized for release by President Donald Trump because it revealed too much about sources and methods, White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said on Fox News Monday. “This Democratic memo does not keep American lives safe it reveals serious national security information that could quite frankly put our lives at risk and the president is not going to do that,” Gidley declared. The memo was compiled in response to its Republican counterpart which alleges broad abuse of FISA authority by top officials in the Department of...

We'll bring you Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberly Strassel's tweetstorm in a moment, but I'll take a stab at answering her question about the media right out of the gate.  Three possibilities: (1) The GOP hyped the Nunes memo, which quickly became the center of this whole firestorm -- replete with counter-memos, FBI objections, etc.  The press followed the spotlight. (2) As we've been saying, there are so many complex pieces of this larger puzzle, following the plot is difficult.  It's not just news consumers wondering, "which memo is this now?" -- it's many of the people trying to cover this drama,...

There is a deluge of information now coming out of months-long parallel investigations by the House (Nunes and Goodlatte), and Senate (Grassley and Johnson), along with DOJ Inspector General Horowitz. It can be easy to get lost amid the deluge. Representative Jim Jordan gives a solid summary of how the information intersects amid the “small group” within a corrupt upper-tier of FBI officials.

RUSH: The Charles Grassley and Lindsey Graham memo. This is a memo, it’s a criminal referral asking for a criminal investigation in the State Department. What was the State Department doing in all of this? Not just the FBI. The State Department where Hillary Clinton once prowled the corridors. Because in testimony before his committee, Senator Grassley has been able to confirm that Christopher Steele lied to the FBI. And that’s what he wants. He wants a trial, a criminal investigation of Steele, the author of the dossier, for lying to the FBI. They’re putting everybody in jail for that....

This time last week, there was growing tumult in Washington over the memo produced by House Intelligence Committee Republicans alleging "FISA abuse" in the Trump-Russia investigation. There were dire warnings that the release of the GOP memo would endanger national security, that doing so would be "extraordinarily reckless" without proper FBI and Justice Department review, and that the FBI had "grave concerns" about "material omissions of fact" that would "fundamentally impact the memo's accuracy." snip The Democratic memo, these Republicans say, is much different. "It's full of sources and methods," said one lawmaker, referring to highly classified information. "It includes...

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.) discussed his push for making the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court more transparent in 2013 on the Kremlin-funded media outlet RT, a channel he has since criticized for being a Russian propaganda network. Schiff's RT interview on July 31, 2013, came on the heels of former NSA contractor Edward Snowden's massive leak of classified information on U.S. surveillance systems and methods, touching off an explosive debate on privacy and security and whether Snowden was a whistleblower or a traitor. Schiff discussed his proposed FISA reforms in an eight-minute interview. "I think they'll have the cumulative...

House Homeland Security Committee chairman Michael McCaul (R., Texas) on Monday called for the publication of the classified documents that served as the basis of a Republican memo accusing federal law enforcement officials of abusing surveillance tools to spy on a former Trump aide. Republicans allege the four-page memo released Friday shows the Justice Department and FBI failed to disclose critical information to federal judges when applying for a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance warrant to wiretap onetime Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page. Democrats, who are pressing for the release of their own counter memo, say the Republican document cherry-picked facts from...

Many questions remain, but Democrats, including Obama, are probably not going to look good when we get the answers. Some things still do not add up about the so-called Steele dossier, FISA warrants, the Nunes memo, and the hysterical Democratic reaction to it. A Big Deal or a Nothing Deal? 1) Progressives and Democrats warned on the eve of the memo’s release that it would cause havoc throughout the intelligence agencies, by exposing classified means and processes. When no serious intelligence expert claimed that the released memo had done such damage, the official response to the memo was suddenly recalibrated...

I fully expect the GOP and Trump to approve release of the Democrat memo. That alone will do a lot of damage, since the Dems are screaming so loud that they're going to get stifled by the GOP. But you know what would be even better? Releasing the Dem memo 5 minutes before a scheduled press conference ... and then having Trump read -- and dismantle -- the Dem memo, live in front of all the TV cameras.

Synopsis: Is the FBI being unfairly criticized by those who are calling for simple transparency from Bureau over their role in essentially being paid by one presidential candidate to spy on her opponent – an allegation that if proven true, would certainly be the greatest bureaucratic scandal in American history? One former FBI Deputy Asst. Director for Counter-terrorism is appalled at the FBI’s lack of transparency.
