Any analysis of why McCain is down 200K votes. Tell me we have a chance.

Late today, Karl Rove's Electoral College projection changed from 311, McCain 160, toss-up 67 to Obama 338, McCain 200, no toss-ups. I’ve only been doing professional GOP politics for 18 years, and Karl is a lot smart than I am. But the only way I will agree with him is when the final vote is tallied. TAMPA - Hundreds of thousands of pages of what appear to be voter survey documents were found strewn along a section of Interstate 4 early this morning. The documents were discovered along a quarter-mile stretch of the highway near I-275 and contained names, addresses, phone numbers and party affiliations of Hillsborough County voters. Several empty cardboard boxes were found nearby. Democrats are touting early leads in turnout for early voting in Florida. But a new poll that counts actual votes cast in the early balloting gives Sen. John McCain a four point lead among those who have already voted in the Sunshine State. The Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll of early voters shows McCain ahead 49-45%.Democrats outnumber Republicans by 54-30% in the party identification of early voters, according to figures released by the Democratic Party of Florida. A statewide poll of Florida voters for the Presidential General Election released today by Datamar Inc., shows that U.S. Senators Barack Obama and John McCain are in a tie.

With 48 hours until Election Day and candidates swarming the state like mosquitoes, a new Orlando Sentinel poll suggests that the race for president in Florida remains too close to call. The poll, by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain 47 percent to 45 percent, well within the poll's 4-point margin of error. With the race essentially tied going into the last lap, Florida's 27 electoral votes remain the biggest battleground prize for either candidate.

(Very important information included in the comment for South Florida residents) Republican Party leaders are asking the U.S. Justice Department to monitor post offices as well as polling precincts, upping the ante in their allegations that postal workers might throw away ballots. The request for Justice Department monitors came hours after the National Association of Letter Carriers demanded an apology.
