The first time Peter Green died was one night in 1969, in San Francisco. Or possibly New York. Or Los Angeles or Miami or Chicago. Peter could never remember which. He had died a hundred times since, and after a while, all the deaths blurred together. Behind that first death lay 22 years of life, most of it spent as Peter Greenbaum, an obscure lad from Bethnal Green in the east end of London. Aside from jellied eels, rhyming slang, and Jack the Ripper's crime spree 80 years earlier, Bethnal Green wasn't known for much. Nothing in particular augured the...

As a teenager, Kirwan's band Boilerhouse supported Fleetwood Mac at venues in London before he was invited to join the group itself in 1968. His work was featured on five of the band's albums released between 1969 and 1972. He passed away on 8 June according to a post on the band's official Facebook page by drummer Mick Fleetwood.

SNIP The singer, who joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, said she and fellow bandmate, Christine McVie, did not experience much sexual harassment over the course of their meteoric careers. "I think I've been very lucky," she said. "And maybe it's because when I joined Fleetwood Mac, Christine and I made a pact. We said we will never ever be treated like a second class citizen amongst our peers as we get more famous and more famous -- and if we're in a room with famous rock n' roll stars that are men and they treat us that way, we will...

Ropoto in Greece In the last week a few media outlets (such as Atlas Obscura) have carried reports about the town of Ropoto in Greece, which in 2010 was abandoned due to a landslide, inspired by an article on the Greek Explorer website. The latter has made a short documentary about the town, and its landslide. The short description that goes with the film is as follows: Ropoto was once a thriving village and home to 300 families, but a landslide in 2012 turned the village into a ghost town. Today, forgotten by people and authorities, Ropoto’s terrain is still...

The '70s nearly had their own Blue Ivy Carter, Stevie Nicks has confirmed. The Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter recently talked with Billboard about her upcoming 24 Karat Gold LP, and was asked about a comment made by her ex-paramour (and fellow '70s megastar) Don Henley of the Eagles. Henley had said that Nicks had gotten pregnant with his baby, and that Sara (later the name of a Mac top-ten hit) was the name she had given the unborn child. Nicks corroborated the important part of that story: Had I married Don and had that baby, and had she been a girl,...

According to the Associated Press, the 65-year-old Welch shot himself in the chest inside his Nashville-area home. He was a part of ‘Future Games (1971), ‘Bare Trees (1972)’ and ‘Mystery to Me (1973).’ Those weren’t immediate commercial successes, but they went on to achieve Gold or Platinum certification in the U.S....

In late 2004, Nicks began visiting Army and Navy medical centers in Washington, D.C. While visiting wounded service men and women, Nicks became determined to find an object she could leave with each soldier that would raise their spirits, motivate, and give them something to look forward to each day. She eventually decided to purchase hundreds of iPod Nanos, load them with music, artists, and play-lists which she would hand select, and autograph them. She now regularly delivers these tokens of her appreciation, bringing her closest friends to share the experience. In 2006, Nicks held a get-together to raise money...
