FR has been completely down for a few minutes. I checked it with a "Is It Down?" website or two. Now supposedly it's up, but you can't move from one link to another. Or if it manages to get to that other link, it's after you've knit a sweater starting with a ball of yarn. What's up with FR today?

While organizing my basement a few weeks ago, I discovered an incredible trove of Sore Loserman bumper stickers, almost 200 of them, which are not doing any good at all in my basement. They are very much like the white version at the link. So starting now, for every $30 contributed to Free Republic, the contributor will qualify to have their very own piece of history mailed directly to their domicile. All you have to do is freepmail me your address and the link to where you brag about your new acquisition and associated contribution in the fundraiser thread. So...

Received a copy of the message pasted below that apparently is circulating via freepmail. In response, all I can say is John is my son and my partner in FR along with Chris and Amy. None of us make a six figure salary. I designed and wrote the original version of FR back in '96, but it was my very first internet project ever. It worked, but codewise it was a dog. And virtually impossible to maintain. When John came in with me, he rewrote the software and made it work greater than ever before and included maintenance tools that...

Response time seems to be back to normal (for now). Sorry, don't know why. The system was dragging all day, but started working normally for the past hour or so. Thought maybe John had found and fixed the problem, but he said no. He doesn't know either. We have several servers running at the data center and most of them have been running fine. Could be the network switch or the front-end router/server (but it seems to be working fine). The database server isn't even breathing hard. The webservers are getting bogged down occasionally, but don't know yet if that's...

I'm very sorry (again), but our recurring response time nightmare is back (again). The good news, though, is John has finally checked in. He's been out of town a lot in the last couple weeks dealing with some urgent family issues regarding his other half's adopted child. Praying that works out soon. He also says his phone needs to be replaced and has not had time to get it done. The bad news is, he has not been able to resolve our server issue yet. He suspects it's some kind of intermittent error in our network switch or router and...

Hoping John checks-in soon to fix it, but it seems to load pages better right now with preferences set to 20: http://freerepublic.com/perl/settings Sorry.

I'm very sorry about the response time problems we've been having recently and now this page loading problem we're having today. I've called and left messages on John's phone, email, freepmail and facebook several times per day since Saturday. No luck. He seems to be off the grid. Don't know if he took a trip or his phone is broken, lost or turned off and he has no internet service in his new apartment or what, but I've been unable to reach him. Also do not have his new address. Hopefully, he'll check in soon and get it fixed. Don't...

When I select text option on FR forums page the menu bar on right disappears. If I choose headers it returns. Also when text option for thread display is selected the threads displyed drops to 5-7. This hasn't happened before. Any ideas wha I may have done to cause this if anything?

Server problems again? No sidebars, nosidebars, half page only.

Is anyone else seeing a very slow response from Free Republic?

Note: Don't post anything at all from the Las Vegas Review Journal or anything from organizations run by Stevens Media, LLC or RightHaven, LLC until the lawsuit brought against us by them is resolved.

I dropped in Google today. In the past, I could find articles posted at Freerepublic using a keyword search. Now all I can see is a link to Freerepublic and a small text window for a keyword search inside Freerepublic. All links to Freerepublic articles were deleted, except a few which mention Freerepublic and Google together. Is it due to Freerepublic's request or Google's unilateral attempt to erase Freerepublic's footprint on Internet?

Won't load full page or sidebar. Just me?

No need to quit your job to start. Just begin laying the groundwork for a more prosperous future in your spare time. Would an extra $500 a month change your financial future? That is definitely possible. In fact, you could earn a lot more per month as a blogger. Once you are in a position to commit full-time to your blog, you can rise up to the $5000 per month income level. That and much more is also possible. Being your own boss means you get to choose your salary.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We have installed a new SHA-256 secure server certificate on our freerepublic.com domain and we have a NEW donate link: https://freerepublic.com/donate/ FR is now more secure than ever! Google, Firefox, et al, were flagging our old SHA-1 secure server as "not secure" even though our certificate was paid-up, still valid, still in force and our secure server was still encrypting our donation transactions as securely as always to the SHA-1 standard. You should see a green "Secure" padlock now when you click on our new donate link and that signifies that your transaction will be encrypted by the newly...

I've noticed that leaving my browser open to FR really slows down my internet connection and or simply disrupts google Chrome. This started happening after last year's big long crash. Anybody else seeing problems?

I found the copyright restricted list, but not a list of websites not allowed to be posted here.
