A court in the Chinese capital Beijing has convicted human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng of incitement to subvert the government and sentenced him to a three-year prison term, with a five-year reprieve and a suspension of political rights for one year. The reprieve means Mr Gao may be released from prison on a type of probation lasting five years. The suspension of political rights will prevent Mr Gao from talking to journalists.
