While trying to find a nativity image for my last post before Christmas, I did an search for "baby jesus" on Google. This is the result. Notice that the top search result is for a sex toy that mocks Jesus. Other results on this search results page have more link traffic. A quick review of page's code shows no HTML meta information that should give it a favorable ranking. The page itself has a raw relevance ranking (search word divided by total words) of less than five percent. The only conclusion I can draw is that this page position ranking...

The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google is intended to take you to the most relevant website for your search term without you having to browse a lot of sites. For instance, putting in "cancer" will automatically take you to the American Cancer Society website. Putting in "apples" will take you to the website for the Washington State Apples Commission. They've been around for several years, an inside-baseball novelty for savvy Web users and political insiders. Interesting observation forwarded to me; if you Google "failure", the top hit is Bush's whitehouse.gov bio. I do not think this is a result of their normal ranking system, as there are other known Easter Eggs in the engine. Not very appropriate, if you ask me...

Hey folks. Just got an email from my son telling me to google 'miserable failure'. Not going to ruin the 'surprise' and tell you what will come up. Will just say Google says they did not put it there. My question is so what if they didn't put it there, they can TAKE IT OFF!!!

A quick look at the DUmmies shows their latest tactic: another googlebomb attempt, trying to link the best-selling Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth's "Unfit for Command" with either the White House bio of President or the President's re-election campaign site. Truly pitiful. . .and to think they actually BELIEVE this kind of crap changes minds ???
