And we've got to rein in the FED and the activist judiciary, eliminate the EPA, and end the ridiculous wars on coal, oil, gas and energy! Cut the regulations, cut the government, cut the spending, cut the taxes, get our economy going again, and set our people free and to prosper and produce!! LIVING PRAYER Brother Lawrence was a monk who lived almost 300 years ago and worked in the galley of his monastery. He wrote a book, The Practice of the Presence of God, which today is considered a classic in the area of Christian devotion. In these jobs, he said, he learned to glorify God in simple tasks and to pray with his hands. By bringing to each small job the...

May all of us remain open enough to welcome young people (like me) into the ranks of conservatives. May Free Republic continue to thrive. May God provide an upcoming Reaganesque politician down the road. May civil war not happen. May your pantries be full.

Last night, after traveling from Atlanta, my family and I arrived -- hungry and tired -- in Des Moines, Iowa. We are staying in the home of a friend who is out of town and decided to order pizza. I found a restaurant on Google Maps and called to place the order, only to be informed that I had reached the wrong location. The man on the other end of the line gave me the number of a different location, which I called. The promised delivery time was 45 minutes to an hour. Not too speedy, I thought, but good...

Mayans couldn't even see their own End of Days MY prediction for the year 2012, which I am told begins tomorrow, is that the world will not end. This is despite the belief that the Mayan calendar says that it will. The calendar was devised 5,125 years ago by the Mayans of Central America, a people who never had the wit to invent the wheel, but it runs out on Dec. 21, 2012. The End of Days, so to speak. If, as some seers suggest, thats an accurate prediction, you have less than a year to get your affairs in...

France will deploy extra police and keep vandalism statistics under wraps on New Year's Eve to fight what authorities say has become an annual "sweepstakes" of disaffected youths competing to see who can burn the most cars. Youths in depressed suburbs of French cities have been torching hundreds of vehicles on New Year's Eve and Bastille Day since the early 1990s. Police say the annual rite has turned competitive, with youths tracking the news in the first days of the new year to see which neighborhood did the most damage.
