Hours after three shootings resulted in a trooper shot and the suspect killed, police have released additional details about the shooter. Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico identified the shooter as 51-year-old Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty at a news conference late Friday night. Though details about El-Mofty are being unraveled by investigators, Marsico said it "certainly appears that there's no doubt" he was targeting police officers. Marsico said El-Mofty initially fired "several shots" at a police car belonging to a Capitol City police officer at 4:10 p.m. in the area of 3rd and Walnut streets. One shot came "very close" to...

We've come full circle on school discipline: Now students beat the teacher. "City teachers pleaded with district administrators Monday to help support them as they deal with what they are calling an unprecedented level of misbehavior among children, some of which is resulting in physical violence against teachers," Felix Rodriguez Lima reported on Fox 43 from Harrisburg, Pa. on November 21, 2017. "The Harrisburg Education Association says the behavioral issues have prompted the resignations of at least 45 teachers between July and October, and further resignations have since occurred, according to association president Jody Barksdale." "Some of the worst behavior...

Although the media would not report it, Candidate Donald Trump had massive crowds at his rallies throughout the Presidential campaign. We started keeping track of the crowds at Trump’s rallies compared to those at Democrat Candidate Hillary Clinton’s rallies in August. The results were staggering with Trump outpacing Clinton in rally attendance by more than 12 to one. This was one of the many reasons we projected Candidate Trump would win the election. Last night, President Trump held a rally in Harrisburg, PA, instead of attending the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. Again the main stream media (MSM) will not report...

I was driving home from work on Friday and I noticed a building that seemed to be the campaign headquarters for Dan Miller who is running for Mayor of Harrisburg. Seeing the campaign headquarters prompted me to think about the upcoming election and the situation in Harrisburg. While I do not live in Harrisburg, plenty of my tax dollars go to Harrisburg and cities like Harrisburg (through state and federal taxes). This is a profile of Harrisburg and the candidates for mayor in the upcoming election. I am certain that there are very similar circumstances in many cities across America.DemographicsPopulation...

Officials in Pennsylvania’s state capital are dealing with an abysmal issue they can’t afford to fix: 41 massive sinkholes throughout the city as wide as 50 feet and as deep as a typical grave. ................ But the city is too broke to replace many of the aging pipes and repave its roads as it deals with ongoing budget woes and the looming threat of bankruptcy, according to media reports. The first of the recent sinkholes perforating Harrisburg was reported on New Year's Eve when a chasm measuring an estimated 50 feet long and eight feet deep, swallowed a neighborhood block,...

For the first time since 1983, the race for the congressional seat representing Harrisburg is a wide-open fight without an incumbent. The incumbent-free race comes as the city needs every advocate it can get. Harrisburg is all but broke, and firm answers about who is at fault are not certain. The school system is underperforming and deeply in debt. The proposed federal courthouse could be the biggest government building project in the new 4th Congressional District — which includes the West Shore, and York and Adams Counties. But with less than three weeks until Election Day, that hasn’t happened.

Bankrupt Harrisburg, Pa. cancels Christmas HARRISBURG, Pa. - Santa Claus isn't coming to town this year for Pennsylvania's financially struggling capital city — at least not to its annual holiday parade. City officials have canceled the Nov. 19 event because organizers were not able to raise enough money. The parade needed about $25,000 in financial support, but donations have fallen far short, parks director Brenda Alton told The Patriot-News of Harrisburg. "We had one letter of commitment and one verbal commitment," she told the newspaper. The city's traditional fireworks on New Year's Eve are also at risk, with a final...

To help Harrisburg out of its financial crisis, area Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders have called for three days of fasting and praying for a more cooperative spirit among Harrisburg government leaders, the business community and residents. The voluntary event will start at midnight on Tuesday and run through 5 p.m. Friday. During that time, various churches and temples will be open to the public. Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson said she will participate in the event.

If all the brightest minds in Harrisburg’s government can’t solve the city’s financial problems, maybe God can. That seems to be the thinking in Pennsylvania’s capital city, where Mayor Linda Thompson and a host of other religious leaders are about to embark on a three-day fast and prayer campaign to cure the city’s daunting money woes. Maybe Greece should have thought of this. “Things that are above and beyond my control, I need God,” Thompson told WHTM TV, the region’s ABC news affiliate. “I depend on Him for guidance. Spiritual guidance. That’s why it’s really no struggle for me to...
