Just where does the blame lie for the COVID-19 pandemic? According to a new Harris poll, few issues have brought such immediate public consensus as this has. More than three-quarters of all Americans, and supermajorities of both parties, lay the blame at Beijing’s feet. The national debate has lagged behind this political consensus, but the national media might be lagging even further behind: Inside the Beltway, Republicans attack Democrats, Joe Biden and the media for not being critical enough of the Chinese Communist Party. Democrats attack President Trump for saying “Chinese virus” and attack any Republicans who blame the...

A survey produced by the Harris Poll in partnership with Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) finds young Americans’ comfort with LGBTQ individuals has plunged from 63 percent in 2016 to 45 percent in 2018. According to the Accelerating Acceptance report, Americans aged 18-34 who say they are comfortable interacting with LGBTQ people dropped from 63 percent in 2016 to 53 percent in 2017, and then to 45 percent in 2018. Axios published the results of a Harris poll Sunday which found that Millennials and Gen Z are more “embracing socialism.†Actually, the poll didn’t ask about any particular definition of socialism, it simply asked if respondents would prefer living in a socialist country. Nearly half of Millennial and Gen Z respondents said yes. Does that mean they want the U.S. to be more like Sweden or Cuba? My guess is the former though I’d bet money fewer than 1 in 10 could explain the difference. Most of the rest of the questions were about policy positions including “Abolishing ICE†and...

Generation Z has a more positive view of the word "socialism" than previous generations, and — along with millennials — are more likely to embrace socialistic policies and principles than past generations, according to a new Harris Poll given exclusively to Axios. Why it matters: The word "socialism" does not carry the same stigma it did in the past, now that it has been resurrected by celebrity politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Young people's political views often change as they grow older, but their support for socialistic policies is a sign that the old rules of politics are...

Six years after it asked America who the best athletes of all-time were, the Harris Poll released its most recent results on Wednesday, and there's at least one constant: Michael Jordan. Jordan was once again on top of the survey, followed by Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali, who each moved up one spot from their 2009 rankings. Tiger Woods, who in 2009 held the No. 2 spot, fell to No. 8. Rounding out the top five were Serena Williams, who wasn't ranked six years ago, and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who jumped from No. 8 to No. 5.

We’ve all heard about the latest Gallup poll showing Newt Gingrich slightly ahead of Willard Romney and both of them ahead of Herman Cain. People like Tokyo Rove and the Republican establishment (which now includes all of the media since Fox has jumped in Romney’s tank as well) do not want you anywhere near the latest Harris poll – it doesn’t fit their narrative which says Herman Cain’s campaign was mortally wounded by the false charges alleged by Gloria Axle-Red. The Harris survey says otherwise. It says, to paraphrase Mark Twain, “The reports of the demise of Herman Cain’s campaign...

A new poll from California shows Dianne Feinstein falling below 50% in re-elect support, a rating than in any other state might mean something. Dianne Feinstein remains more popular among California voters than her colleague Barbara Boxer, a new Field Poll shows. But Feinstein can’t rest easy as she prepares for another re-election bid next year. New York, N.Y. — November 16, 2009 — As President Obama continues his trip through Asia this week, he is trying to sell both himself and his policies on the other side of the world. When he makes it back to the United States, he may have to do the same type of sell here as his approval ratings continue their downward spiral with Americans believing that the country as a whole is moving in the wrong direction. The President, and Congress for that matter, need to do something positive in the eyes of the American public to stand a...

On October 16, the results of a Harris Interactive poll on Barack Obama were quietly posted. Because it was bad news for him, it was released on a Friday afternoon so it could be buried on Saturday and you would miss it. The report started with some blunt language, “President Obama may have won the Nobel Peace Prize, but unfortunately, he is not winning accolades from the American public as his job approval rating continues its downward slide.” Numbers tell the story Americans have run out of good will toward Obama. We don’t like what we see in him. In...

Twenty-first Century America … where a man who associated with a known-terrorist, was mentored by a racist anti-American reverend, lied to the American people on numerous occasions about “earmarks” in the largest wasteful spending bill in all of human history, has done nothing but fear-monger Americans with falsehoods on the state of the economy, has suspended ongoing trials of known terrorists at Guantanamo Bay and has been President for a little less than five lousy weeks is polled as being more of a hero than Jesus, Ghandi, Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln - that according to a...

The final Harris Poll from Nov 2, 2004...Another piece of evidence pointing to a likely Kerry victory is that online Harris Polls in these large, key states, which may well determine the Electoral College result, all show modest Kerry leads. However, all these leads are within the possible sampling error for these surveys. Assuming the forecast is correct, Kerry is likely to win all three large states, and almost certainly the White House along with it. The sample sizes were well over 1,000 likely voters in Florida (1,433), Pennsylvania (1,204), and Ohio (1,218).

After officially declaring his candidacy, U.S. Senator Fred Thompson moves ahead of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the race for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination. One-third (32%) of those who say they will vote in a Republican primary or caucus will vote for Thompson while 28 percent will vote for Giuliani. Much further back is John McCain, who continues his downward slide with 11 percent saying they would vote for the Arizona Senator, and 9 percent who say they would vote for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. On the Democratic side, Senator Hillary Clinton continues to build...

Most U.S. adults favor a program allowing illegal immigrants to stay in this country if the immigrants have a job and pay their back taxes, but would not allow them to stay if they do not pay their back taxes, according to a new Harris Poll released Tuesday. Over half (57 percent) of adults said they favored creating a program that would allow illegal immigrants already living in the United States for a number of years to stay in the country and apply for U.S. citizenship – if they pay their back taxes.
