An Indian man is being investigated for gambling his wife away before assaulting her when she refused to go with the winner. The incident took place in the district of Banka in the north-eastern Indian state of Bihar when Binod Kumar Shah lost a bet who could not afford to pay, according to local media. To cover the debt, he allegedly offered his wife Chanda Devi to the other man.

What's with Barney Frank and his odd obsession with a Henny Youngman line that—had virtually any other politician used it—would result in him being accused of the worst kind of misogyny? Back in 2011, I noted that, appearing on Morning Joe, Frank had quoted the hoary Henny line: "How's your wife? Compared to what?" Yet there was Barney again this evening, this time on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show, breaking out the identical line. Really: what gives? And imagine the feminist outrage if, say, Mitt Romney had dared used the line during his presidential campaign. View the video here.

Barney Frank has to be the biggest sourpuss in Congress. The liberal representative from Massachusetts has made an art form out of ripping off his mike and abruptly ending an interview. This testy feller could pick a fight in a phone booth. So Frank would be the last person you'd expect, in commenting on the debt ceiling deal, to break out a classic line from comedian Henny Youngman. Yet that's exactly what Barney did on Morning Joe today, in explaining why he was supporting a deal that contained much he didn't like. View video here.

Otherwise, these great doctor jokes wouldn't make any sense in a few generations. RIP, Mr. Youngman.
