Henrietta Hughes tugged at the nation's heartstrings when she stood Feb. 10, 2009, at a town hall gathering in Fort Myers, Fla., and told President Barack Obama about how she and her adult son, Corey, were homeless, living in a vehicle and in need of "our own kitchen and our own bathroom." (CNN) -- The homeless Florida woman who made a tearful plea for help from President Obama earlier this year is still jobless and might be homeless again. We all know them. People that abuse the system. People that work a few months of the year, just long enough to qualify for unemployment, and then jump on the unemployment bandwagon. Those that get food stamps to support their families despite being able bodied, often educated and capable of work. This Henrietta Hughes story really gets under my evil conservative skin, even as a New Yorker. I'm used to stories of lazy, shiftless people like Henrietta taking government checks for doing nothing while complaining about what they are given... but to have the President and his lapdog media doing handstands over this lady is just ridiculous. This lady should be scorned for her lack of industry and unwillingness to provide for herself, not feted like some kind of a spokesperson for the chronically lazy.

Henrietta Hughes was offered a home by Chene Thompson, wife of State Representative Nick Thompson, who heard the homeless woman’s pleas for help to President Obama before a local and national crowd. The house is in LaBelle, the first home [Chene] Thompson bought after law school. She told Hughes, “Just give me the opportunity to help you.” Hughes broke down in front of thousands when she told the president that she and her son have been homeless for more than a year. They are living in a pickup truck.

LEE COUNTY — The guy who turned heads with his emotional plea to Barack Obama during a town hall meeting in Fort Myers landed a gig with the Fort Myers Miracle. Julio Osegueda, 19, will will be the radio color announcer during the Miracle’s home opener on Friday, April 10 against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. Osegueda has worked at a Cape Coral McDonald’s for four years. When Obama called on him to ask the final question Tuesday, he praised the Lord for Obama’s visit and asked the president about his plans to help increase benefits for people like him.
