The theme of the 7th International Conference on Climate Change was “Real Science, Real Choices.” We featured approximately 50 scientists and policy experts speaking at plenary sessions and panel discussions exploring what real climate science is telling us about the causes and consequences of climate change, and the real consequences of choices being made based on the current perceptions of the state of climate science.

Senior State Department officials said Wednesday they have been given a warm reception at the Kampala review conference of the International Criminal Court, which they are attending as observers. It is another sign of U.S. re-engagement with the 12-year-old ICC, which was rejected by the Bush administration. Former President Bill Clinton signed the Rome Statute setting up the ICC. But the treaty was never sent to the U.S. Senate for ratification amid conservative concern about politicization and judicial over-reach by the court, and the Bush administration rescinded the U.S. signature in 2002.

Willie Soon, a Harvard University astrophysicist and geophysicist with scores of peer-reviewed papers and books to his credit, said he is “embarrassed and puzzled” by the shallow science in papers asserting the Earth faces a climate crisis caused by global warming.
