ATLANTA - Keisha Lance Bottoms released a farewell video on her last full day as Atlanta mayor. The video was posted to her social media accounts and it in part outlined some achievements she had during her four-year term. Bottoms released an open letter to the city in May 2021, announcing that she would not seek a second term as mayor.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is urging Texas and Mississippi residents to keep wearing face coverings after their Republican governors lifted COVID-19 mask mandates in the states — slamming the decision as “inexplicable.” Texas lifted its mask order amid approval of Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine — and the announcement of an amped-up federal plan to get every adult in the US vaccinated by the end of May.

The NBA’s ratings are in an inexplicable free fall after a brief player-led boycott last week.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Gov. Tony Evers (D) said, "While we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country. We stand with all those who have and continue to demand justice, equity, and accountability for Black lives in our country."

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Lt. Butch Arnoldi tells the Santa Maria Times (http://bit.ly/12U2WyO ) that 54-year-old Sara Ornelas and 49-year-old Barbara Romero were driving to a casino at 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 21 when they pulled over west of Lake Cachuma.</p>
