NASA Shares the 5 Cosmic Targets of James Webb’s First Photos JUL 08, 2022 JARON SCHNEIDER James Webb Space Telescope NASA as revealed the cosmic objects that will be shown when it releases the first full-color photos captured by the James Webb Space Telescope on July 12. The space agency says that the five targets listed below represent the first wave of full-color scientific images and spectra that the James Webb Space Telescope has gathered and will mark the official beginning of the observatory’s general science operations. The James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s premier space science observatory. Webb...

The global warming priests have presented no evidence that the process they claim causes "global warming" exists. They just illogically claim that any increase in what they call the "global average temperature" can only result from carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Paul Homewood has reported on questionable manipulation of temperature data used to calculate this global average temperature. Anthony Watts has documented problems with temperature data for several years on his blog. The controversy over the accuracy of the data can be viewed as much ado about nothing because the so-called global average temperature "is thermodynamically as well as mathematically...

The claim that carbon dioxide (CO2) can increase air temperatures by "trapping" infrared radiation (IR) ignores the fact that in 1909 physicist R.W. Wood disproved the popular 19th Century thesis that greenhouses stayed warm by trapping IR. Unfortunately, many people who claim to be scientists are unaware of Wood's experiment which was originally published in the Philosophical magazine , 1909, vol 17, p319-320. Philosophical Magazine might not sound like the name of a science publication, but a century ago leading scientists published their discoveries in it. During the early 19th Century many physicists supported the theory postulated by Benjamin Franklin...

By injecting specialized light-tweaking nanoparticles into a mouse’s retina, that mouse is suddenly and clearly able to perceive near-infrared light — suggesting the same could be possible for us, assuming you don’t mind a needle in the eye. The advance involves what the researchers, from the University of Science and Technology in China, call “ocular injectable photoreceptor-binding upconversion nanoparticles.” In fact, it turns out that these researchers had already created the necessary trickery for a different reason, namely as a molecule for optogenetic triggers that would absorb infrared light (which conveniently penetrates many tissues) and emit visible spectrum light instead....

It certainly does, and not without good reason. Politically speaking, the need to put the IRS in an enforcement position for ObamaCare was already a weakness for Democrats; few people enjoy working with the IRS, and that was before the organization targeted applicants and filers on the basis of their politics. ABC News notes that the expanding IRS scandal gives Republicans a new and potent argument for rethinking the entire mess: Conservative groups are preparing to use the deepening public distrust of the Internal Revenue Service to discredit the Affordable Care Act, and the Democrats who support it, in the 2014...

Description of simple experiment that shows CO2 can't cause warming by trapping Infra Red (Credit to mystery blogger) The claim that carbon dioxide (CO2) can increase air temperatures by "trapping" infrared radiation (IR) ignores the fact that in 1909 physicist R.W. Wood disproved the popular 19th Century thesis that greenhouses stayed warm by trapping IR. Unfortunately, many people who claim to be scientists are unaware of Wood's experiment which was originally published in the Philosophical magazine , 1909, vol 17, p319-320. Wood was an expert on IR. His accomplishments included inventing both IR and UV (ultraviolet) photography. Wood constructed two...

SACRAMENTO — Expect surprises. It's no longer politics as usual. Want to overhaul the Legislature into a single nonpartisan house? How about creating universal health care or a bullet train? Voters may soon get the chance. Californians are so tired of Sacramento and Washington that they are creating a "unique hybrid democracy" to dissolve political gridlock on key issues — a trend that could spread across the nation. That's the conclusion reached by California's two foremost pollsters, looking back to the Nov. 7 election and ahead to coming sessions of the Legislature and Congress. Californians are backing away from the...

June 26, 2005 Guest Viewpoint: The party's over for betrayed Republican By James Chaney As of today, after 25 years, I am no longer a Republican. I take this step with deep regret, and with a deep sense of betrayal. I still believe in the vast power of markets to inspire ideas, motivate solutions and eliminate waste. I still believe in international vigilance and a strong defense, because this world will always be home to people who will avidly seek to take or destroy what we have built as a nation. I still believe in the protection of individuals and...

I am very worried for Karl Rove. Ir appears he is going to jail, and I don't want him to end up in a bad place where bad things could happen to him (what were those bad federal prisons referred to in the movie "Office Space?") Can we start a petition to give to his sentencing judge to have him sent to a nice prison? Maybe he coould go where Martha Stewart went. Or is that just for women. Let's make sure he goes to a nice place, though.

Think a PDA will be too expensive to “waste” as a mere remote? The Pocket PC 2002-based iPAQ H3950 does ring in at a sticker-shock inducing $649 USD MSRP, but if you compare that to its closest hardware matched dedicated remote competition, the Philips ProntoPro at $999 MSRP, the iPAQ is actually 35% cheaper. Not only that, but it has far superior specifications: a 400MHz processor compared to 33MHz; 64MB memory with expansion compared to a fixed 8MB; 65,000-color active matrix LCD touchscreen compared to 256-color passive matrix – the list goes on. From a merely specifications standpoint the...
