  • Eerie Bible coincidence for Hurricane Isaac ?

    08/29/2012 2:25:22 PM PDT · by Lera · 50 replies
The arrival of Hurricane Isaac exactly seven years after Hurricane Katrina blasted New Orleans has some people wondering if there’s more to it than random chance, and suggesting the popular homosexual festival Southern Decadence may be part of a judgment from God. “A hurricane hitting a celebration of decadence … twice in seven years. What are the odds?” asks Robin Cox, a lifelong Gulf Coast resident. “Does it seem God has it in for New Orleans?” adds Mary Starkey. “Just contemplating why this has happened twice in seven years at exact same time of year.”

What began as a simple going-away party on Barracks Street in 1972 has evolved into one of New Orleans' premier yearly events: Southern Decadence. Held annually in the French Quarter over Labor Day weekend, this celebration of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) culture has begun attracting as many as 125,000-135,000 participants from all over the world in recent years.

I live in CT. I lived thru Irene and the freak October snowstorm that left parts of the region without power for over a week in some cases. The supposedly hearty New England residents were crying within two days how they didn't have power and cable. I decided to take a look at the Facebook page of one of the major cable companies in the path of Isaac. All these screen shots were taken around 6:30 PM Eastern time on 8/29. http://imgur.com/a/0sVS0

  • Obama juggles presidential duties, campaigning (Barf alert)

Trying to keep his job as he does his job, President Barack Obama assured the nation Tuesday that his administration was capably ready for a menacing Hurricane Isaac. And then he climbed aboard his helicopter and went searching for votes. Obama's swift pivot illustrated the president's juggle of governing and campaigning — and that neither stops in an election year. Standing alone in the White House Diplomatic Room, Obama first reminded TV viewers, in so many words, that he is the only president in the race. Succinct and serious, Obama said he had ordered federal help in place in the...
  • Isaac Shows Media Bias Of Hurricane Proportions

    Investor's Business Daily EDITORIAL ^ | August 28, 2012 | EDITORIAL staff
Press: As Isaac bore down on New Orleans, the administration's media toadies preferred to talk not about substantive issues, but on how the "shadow of Bush and Katrina" hung over the delayed GOP convention in Tampa. Those in the press whose legs tingle at every administration utterance apparently share the view that a crisis is a terrible thing to waste. Isaac, barely making it as a hurricane, was seen as yet another chance to blame George W. Bush for something and resurrect media falsehoods about Hurricane Katrina, which hit New Orleans seven years ago. The Republican National Convention was pushed...

No link....just reported LIVE on air. Elizabeth Prann in New Orleans said she just received word from the Division of Homeland Security that a levee south of her had been breached or broken. (The wind and rain subdued her voice, so I am not sure which.) No word on the severity thereof....hopefully someone else can post more info as it becomes available.

Isaac has been slow to organize and attain hurricane status. Slow moving minimal Hurricane Isaac threatens to dump up to 20" of rain in portions of its path. Storm surge of 6-12ft is expected. Media news readers have gleefully reported RNC scheduling adjustments to accommodate public safety during Tampa storm warnings. A water spout formed in the Tampa Channelside area at 4:43PM Monday afternoon, a short distance from the RNC Convention Center. The Florida Atlantic coast was inundated with torrential rain squalls from far-reaching Isaac outer bands. Several tornados were reported in the Florida peninsula. The weather took its toll...

Twitter has been the site of some seriously deranged Hollywood lefties musings on Isaac and their wish that it would have killed Republicans, or disrupted the convention. Samuel L. Jackson: "Samuel L. Jackson on Monday tweeted it was "unfair" that Tropical Storm Isaac had spared the GOP convention in Tampa and appeared to be heading for New Orleans. Jackson said in a profanity-filled tweet that he was "not understanding God's plan" given the fact that the storm was not disrupting the Republican gathering. "GOP spared by Isaac! New Orleans officials announced Monday that they've decided not to call for mandatory evacuations in the city ahead of Tropical Storm Isaac's landfall, but evacuations have been ordered for many residents in surrounding parishes, particularly those outside protective levees. Mayor Mitch Landrieu had said that a mandatory evacuation would not be ordered unless the storm was expected to become a Category 3 hurricane. On Monday afternoon, with forecasts still predicting a Category 1 storm, or possibly a Category 2, he announced that no mandatory evacuation would be ordered.

Tampa and the Republican convention seem to have dodged the initial impact of Tropical Storm Isaac. But the full impact of its political spin has yet to be felt. Issac is building power over the Gulf of Mexico as I write this, and the power of the political spin builds as the storm approaches the landfall areas of Hurricane Katrina. While no one wishes for Isaac to follow the map track of Katrina, those living in its path need to prepare for the wind, rain and storm surges. Those following its political track need to brace for the impact of...

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Isaac closed in on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico coast on Monday, triggering some mandatory evacuation orders and disrupting U.S. offshore oil production as it threatened to make landfall between Florida and Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane. The wide, slow-moving storm swiped south Florida on Sunday and strengthened over the warm Gulf waters. It was expected to reach land Tuesday night or early Wednesday, the anniversary of devastating Hurricane Katrina seven years ago. The U.S. National Hurricane Center warned that the storm could push vast amounts of seawater over the shore, flooding the...

Forget the media concern-trolling about cancellation. ThereÂ’s no way the RNCÂ’s going to forfeit face time for Romney on national television by pulling the plug when the whole point of this week was to introduce voters to the softer, more human side of Mitt. Barring Isaac turning into a hypercane, thereÂ’ll be at least one night of convention proceedings with Romney as the star speaker, and itÂ’s not hard to guess what heÂ’ll say. "Planners are considering a range of options, depending on the vagaries of the storm. One of the worst-case scenarios would have Romney delivering a brief speech...

New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast faced the anniversary of devastating Hurricane Katrina by hunkering down for new storm amid "a high level of anxiety," as the Crescent City's mayor put it Monday. Forecasters project Tropical Storm Isaac will reach hurricane strength before hitting the northern Gulf Coast early Wednesday, seven years to the day after Katrina slammed ashore near the Louisiana-Mississippi state line. Residents of low-lying coastal areas from the Florida Panhandle to southeastern Louisiana were ordered to evacuate ahead of storm surges and heavy rain, while the mayor of New Orleans -- which was flooded by...

Thousands in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama were being told early Monday to leave their Gulf Coast homes ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac as forecasters warned it was gaining strength as it followed the same path Hurricane Katrina took seven years earlier. The governors of the three states each declared a state of emergency, with Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ordering mandatory evacuations to begin at 8 a.m. for residents who live along the coast and for those in some low-lying areas inland. "I am urging everyone to take precautions now, monitor weather warnings, and be prepared for whatever...

The National Weathe Service (at this time) is forecasting that Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac may be tropical depression as it enters Missouri/Tennessee. This may be very good news in terms of the drought. Sections of the Mississippi River has been shut down on account of the lack of water. It is possible that this storm system might into the Ohio Valley or even the Upper Mississippi River Valley. It is possible to draw moisture from the Gulf of Mexico/Tropics. This may not help farmers this year. But it is possible that this might help fill reservoirs for some towns and cities...
