(AgapePress) - I think she still holds it against me. As a teen today, it's absolutely ludicrous to think that my niece Katie needs to hold my hand while crossing the street. But way back when, when Katie was just three, our battle of wills produced fierce tears. On a shopping trip, I her aunt, was entrusted with her safety. All was going well ... until the moment I grabbed Katie's hand before we crossed the busy parking lot in front of the store.Katie jerked her hand away from me. Hearing a car's motor on the left, I reached out...

Justice seeks end to delays in review of documents seized in raid WASHINGTON The Justice Department today opposed further delays in the bribery investigation of Representative William Jefferson, saying the agency should be allowed to review documents seized in a search of the congressman's office. On Monday, Chief U-S District Judge Thomas F. Hogan rejected requests from Jefferson and fellow lawmakers seeking the return of the material from the May raid on Capitol Hill. Jefferson is now seeking to delay the judge's ruling while he appeals. Hogan dismissed arguments by Jefferson and a bipartisan group of House leaders that the...

Brett Pfeffer, a former legislative assistant to U. S. Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana, was sentenced May 27 by a judge in Alexandria to eight years in prison for conspiring to bribe the embattled Louisiana Democrat. U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III told Pfeffer that his sentence could be reduced significantly for cooperation with investigators. But, “it would be difficult to overstate the seriousness of this offense,” Ellis said at Pfeffer’s hearing. In January, Pfeffer, 37, pleaded guilty in Federal Court in Alexandria to conspiracy to commit bribery and aiding and abetting the solicitation of bribes by a member of...

NEW YORK As the reigning Wimbledon champion, Maria Sharapova is learning to deal with a higher profile and greater expectations. Life has been a whirlwind for her since July, when at age 17, she buzzed through Wimbledon like a tornado, wiping out Serena Williams in straight sets to win the championship. Sharapova's surprising triumph, and her tall, striking presence, made her tennis's favorite summer flavor. But between the glamour photo shoots and the talk shows, her game since Wimbledon has not been up to standard. She was upset in the second round of the Pilot Pen tournament last week, and...

The ACLU is now suing for the right to allow people to operate nude camps for teens. The group filed a motion in Richmand, Virginia to invalidate a state ban on such camps. The state had imposed the ban because White Tail Park had attempted to operate a camp last year for kids aged 11-18. The ACLU is attempting to make the argument that lawmakers over reached and over reacted to the camp by passing such a ban. The ACLU is also arguing that such a ban "interferes" with the "right" of a family to raise and nurture their children....

Every few days or so on FreeRepublic, those of us who follow the Common Culture and its focus on sexuality start complaining about the clothing in the local stores that is available to children. Mothers and fathers here complain about the trashy, sexualized clothing that little girls are sold. They complain that there are no others choices. Well, I don't know about you folks but I COMPLAIN. To management. Each time I cannot find modest, decent clothes. It takes at most, five minutes. Each time I shop. And I expect I will get results. For each person who complains...mangement extrapolates...

Tuesday, November 14, 2000 254 'boy words' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor's note: The following column contains content of a sexual nature that some readers may find objectionable. Those debating whether homosexuals should be scout leaders should take a look at the dictionary to help decide whether or not homosexuals have an inordinate interest in young boys. Or is it really as gay rights leaders say -- they just labor in young boys' best interests. Let's look it up and see if pederasts (men who sexually assault boys) comprise just a small cadre within the much larger male homosexual population. The dictionary I...

Ritter received a standing ovation as he began to discuss his views on the weapon inspections in Iraq and the possible war. Ritter, a former major in the U.S. Marines and a former U.N. chief weapons inspector, said it takes a gathering of more than 800 people to bring the Green Party and a former Marine together. The event, which was sponsored by the University Lecture Series, The Alliance of Concerned Students and the USF Campus Green, examined what the weapons inspectors...

Local Albany New York radio stations are reporting that Schenectady County Community College will continue with plans to pay sexual pervert and anti-American Scott Ritter $4,000 to preach his left wing peacenik anti-US venom to the college kids. Is it any wonder everyone is concerned with the Left Wing indoctrination that goes on at colleges and universities. Yet, God forbid a college would invite an Ann Coulter or Justice Thomas (which they seldom do because they don't want diversity of ideas on campus) and the whole student population goes berserk. We got some serious problems in America thanks to the...

Scott Ritter said he doesn't want forgiveness. Speaking publicly for the first time about the sex charge he was arrested for in 2001, the former U.N. arms inspector and one of the leading critics of the Bush administration's plans to attack Iraq said he has been held accountable for breaking the law. And it would be a shame, he said Wednesday, that his arrest could derail his efforts to help prevent a war in the Middle East. "I think it's important to put a human face on this, to remind people that there are issues out there bigger than a...
