This is something I thought I would never see-the Democratic Governor accepting blame for the mistakes made in planning and preparing when hurricane katrin struck New Orleans. Governor Blanco was one of the first to blame Bush, FEMA and the tooth fairy for everything that went wrong in New Orleans. Now Blanco seems to be singing a different tune. While she still places a fair amount of blame at the federal level, she actually took some responsibility for her utter lack of leadership before and after the hurricane.

Moral authority is about to have a showdown in Crawford, Texas, where the parents of soldiers in Iraq will square off in the heat-shimmering periphery of President George W. Bush's averted gaze. Cindy Sheehan, the bereaved mother who has gained international attention by posting herself outside the Bush ranch and demanding a (second) meeting with the president in the wake of her son's death, is about to have company of a different sort. Not the supporters she's grown accustomed to - television crews, anti-war demonstrators, Democratic consultants and America's political left - but a small cavalry of opponents who feel...

If I heard it correctly, here is the quote from Dick Morris on the Sean Hannity show: "I believe every word from Kathleen Willey and Juanita Broaddrick." Coming up on Sean's show are Paula Jones, Willey, and Dolly Kyle Browning. It should be fun.

Mzzz. Curatolo at work"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." That’s exactly how the first amendment to the constitution reads regarding the practice of religion in America. Would someone please tell me how a school board invocation before commencing business is congress making a law respecting the establishment of religion? Nobody can, because congress isn’t making any law establishing religion when such happens. The Naples School board has been saying a prayer before their board meeting for some 50 years. Board member and Northeastern liberal Kathleen Curatolo (who ran as a...

Heard on the news this morning that Her Majesty will be at the Wal-Mart in Fairfax, Virginia next Wednesday for a book signing. Someone should make the ultimate sacrifice, buy her book and wait in line for her signature. When you get up there ask her to sign it to Juanita B., or Monica L., or Kathleen W., or Jennifer F. Or better yet, just have her sign it, "To all the girls I loved before."

Ron Smith just scored a football! HRH Kathleen Kennedy Townsend sat for an hour+ interview on WBAL radio with Ron Smith and various Maryland callers. There were many excellent questions raised and some absolutely astounding answers- including a few classic KKT statements. There was even some empty "air" time as Ron Smith sat, I am sure, dumbfounded at some of her responses and times when she was completely stumped. What follows is a rough outline of the questions and the answers paraphrased from my notes. My thanks to the excellent callers and emailers that had that woman squirming in her...

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend have issued new subpoenas seeking personnel records for a former Maryland State Police employee and the computer hard drive of another former state worker, officials said yesterday. A subpoena delivered to state police headquarters by FBI agents on Tuesday demanded all work records for Daniel I. Franklin, who apparently was paid out of the state police budget while working as a...

A federal grand jury is investigating whether an anti-crime agency overseen by Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend improperly used federal funds for political purposes, according to interviews with former employees of the agency and records subpoenaed as part of the probe. The agency released records yesterday revealing that it has used millions of federal crime-fighting dollars to increase the size of its staff, lease cars for staff members and create a Web site that touts Townsend's "legacy" as a crime fighter.

Bloopers Gone Wild It's official: KKT's propensity for getting things upside down and backward in her speeches is not a legitimate election issue. So says Towson University professor Michael Vatz in Monday's edition of The (Baltimore) Sun. According to Vatz, ``There are lines that negative criticism should not cross," including ``Ms. Townsend's inarticulateness and gaffes. This is a point that may well be considered by voters, but it is not legitimate as an issue." Nevertheless, the press corps is keeping a growing anthology of ``KKT's Bloopers Gone Wild," including, of course, her famous congratulations to the NFL's Baltimore Ravens for...

ANNAPOLIS -- Republican gubernatorial candidate Rep. Robert Ehrlich is gaining ground on Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, according to a new poll released today. The poll by Gonzales/Arscott Research & Communications Inc. of Annapolis found that 48 percent of the 829 registered voters polled said they would vote for Townsend and her running mate, Charles Larson, if the election were held now. The telephone poll conducted from July 2 to Sunday found that 41 percent said they’d vote for Ehrlich and his pick for lieutenant governor, Michael Steele. It was the first time in the Gonzales/Arscott polls that Townsend's support...

Well, the great thing about Washington Post articles is that you don't have to fuss with all the formatting. KKT is making one of her KKTisms a 'central theme' of her campaign. Gotta check this one out.

washingtonpost.com 'Indispensable' but Hazy DestinyTownsend Campaign Phrase Stumps Some Listeners, Enthralls Others By Lori Montgomery Washington Post Staff WriterTuesday, May 7, 2002; Page B01 There's manifest destiny. There's ultimate destiny. There are dates and rendezvous with destiny. And as she launched her gubernatorial campaign on Sunday, Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend introduced the state of Maryland to its "indispensable destiny." Frankly, quite a few people are still scratching their heads. "Indispensable. Indispensable," Democratic pollster Keith Haller muttered yesterday. "I'm stuck. I'm aflutter here. The words don't work for me." "I actually did scratch my head when she said it," said...
