Just months after the conclusion of talk show “Oprah,” former “CBS Evening News” host Katie Couric will have a syndicated television program named after herself. Art for the much-anticipated talk show “Katie” hit the Internet Monday with the lofty tagline, “The Opportunity Begins September 6th.” “Katie,” premiering on ABC next month, is part of Couric’s network agreement that enables her to contribute interviews, participate in special events coverage, and anchor television specials, according to The Hollywood Reporter. PLease pray for my daughter, Katie, who had a stroke and was rushed by helicopter to Cleveland for surgery. She is in her forties and has two children, one still in grade school. Since we live in different states, the information has been sketchy, but we do know that the stroke was a bad one.

A warrant has reportedly been issued for Katie Couric, the face of the CBS Evening News, over an unpaid tax bill in the state of New York. According to the New York Daily News, the state Department of Taxation and Finance issued the warrant for the newswoman's failure to pay an outstanding bill of $210.41 from 2003. NEW YORK (AP) — If some people thought traveling to Iraq and Syria was a ratings stunt for Katie Couric, it didn't work out that way. The "CBS Evening News" tied a record low with just under 5.5 million viewers last week, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday. Last week and Memorial Day week are the two least-watched CBS evening newscasts since at least 1987, and probably far earlier. CBS said it wasn't surprising, and argued that last week's numbers were artificially deflated because of U.S. Open coverage.

The latest name to surface in the ongoing Katie Couric saga at CBS News is that of Scott Pelley, a Washington-based 60 Minutes correspondent since 2004. According to a scenario being heard in whispers at CBS News, Pelly is being positioned to possibly replace Couric at some future date, should her numbers not improve. Last week's CBS Evening News viewership was the lowest it has been since at least 1987, which is as far back as Nielsen records date. It's accurate to call it the smallest audience for the Evening News in decades. Last week's average total viewership was 6,050,000. Katie Couric's previous low of 6,157,000 came in March.
