The twitter account “Emergency Kittens” (@EmrgencyKittens) boasts 1.85 million followers on the social media platform and it pretty much exactly what you would expect: a dizzying array of cat gifs, photos, videos, links, and memes. However, the account came under renewed scrutiny late Sunday night when a keen observer noticed that the account — which yesterday Tweeted out the sentence, “you win life if you cat cuddles with you” (not a typo) — earned a new follower: Donald J. Trump, the billionaire magnate turned Republican nominee and soon to be 45th President of the United States of America.

Like it or not, Donald Trump's face is here to stay. From being named Time magazine's person of the year, to daily coverage of his transitional plans, you can't glance at a news source—let alone social media—without seeing Trump's face several times over. Or can you? With the help of a Google Chrome extension called "Make America Kittens Again" you can find sweet relief, in the form of kittens. The extension finds headlines with Trump's name in them and replaces the associated images with pictures of adorable little furballs snuggling, playing, and being generally kittenish.

I recently lost my cat and have been thinking of getting another one. My niece, who is a vet, works with a cat rescue group that has a one year old female kitty with feline leukemia that they have been trying to find a home for and are even willing to waive the adoption fee in order to place her. So my question is directed to anyone here who has ever had a cat with feline leukemia. How long did your cat live with the disease, how was its quality of life, did you have to administer medication on a...

A couple of five-week-old kittens were named Shrek and Smurf by a rescue staff after they were found colored blue and green with permanent marker. The naturally black-and-white cats were discovered with all of their white spots colored in and were brought to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue by the West Yorkshire Police. “This is a dreadful act of cruelty, and who knows what untold damage this may have caused,” charity volunteer Katie Jane Lloyd told BBC. The Bradford Cat Watch Rescue has sought help from veterinary poisons information services for assistance in cleaning Shrek and Smurf, according to BBC. The...

Pupils' shape and size can reveal whether your kitten is a hunter or the hunted, research shows, Zee News reports. The study also said that species with pupils that are vertical slits are more likely to be ambush predators that are active both day and night. "For species that are active both night and day, like domestic cats, slit pupils provide the dynamic range needed to help them see in dim light yet not get blinded by the midday sun," said lead researcher Martin Banks, professor of optometry at University of California-Berkeley. The vertical slits of domestic cats and...

This rescue momma cat is nursing her 8 kittens: 7 calico girls and 1 boy. “The mother was grey and all the babies came out calico colored! The only boy in the litter is the black and white one with the goatee,” said Rachel, the foster mom. “She was found outside feral with a litter of kittens she could not take care of,” Rachel said. The cat mama was having a hard time caring for all 8 kittens and needed some help to raise her babies. “All kittens in the litter survived!” she added.

Exploding Kittens is a highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck. The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole. The game was created by Elan Lee (Xbox,...

If you're partial to black and white "tuxedo" cats, an animal shelter in Novato, Calif., would like to talk. It seems someone has dropped off more than 100 of the cats over the last 18 months. The last dropoff occurred Monday, when a car pulled up to the Marin Humane Society and left behind three boxes with 24 cats. It was the fourth such occurrence in the last 18 months. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that all the cats, which range in age from kitten to full-grown, appeared to be in good health, with no fleas or diseases. The unidentified...

Toni Sestak is used to a crowded house. One of nine children growing up in Southern California, Toni and her husband went on to raise five children of their own in their San Francisco home. Perhaps it is her comfort among numbers then, that prompted Toni, once her children were grown, to begin filling up her house again. This time, with kittens. Toni's Kitty Rescue, founded by Toni Sestak, is responsible for fostering close to 10,000 kittens over the past decade. Toni is the face in front of, and the energy behind, Toni's Kitty Rescue. Started 10 years ago, Toni's...

This Bulldog, Hammie, took an unbelievably adorable liking to his newfound four-legged-feline family. Hammie’s owner, Michelle Parden, of Lincoln, Neb., temporarily adopted the kittens’ mother, an almost full-term stray named Mommy, as an urgent favor to her friend, the director of Voice for Companion Animals, a nonprofit that helps low-income families provide for their pets. “She was in rough shape so we took her in, and a week later she had the kittens on Halloween,” Parden told GoodMorningAmerica.com. “So we named them all Halloween-themed names.” From the moment the kittens, festively named Pumpkin, Goblin, Frankenstein, Batman, Zombie and Elvia, were...

The kittens kept MTA officers busy and riders hanging in Brooklyn. A major crisis was averted in the subway Thursday on the fe-line. Two skittish kittens, who have been named Arthur and August, were rescued by a pair of cops and an MTA worker in Brooklyn after their precarious presence near the third rail shut down service for about two hours and shook up the city’s usually stoic straphangers.

An Indiana teenager has been charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly hunted and killed three kittens with bows and arrows and posted photographs of their mutilated bodies on Facebook, Indiana police say. The 17-year-old boy told investigators he hunted the kittens because he was bored one day and saw several kittens in the alley behind his house in Lake County, Ind. “He said he was bored out of his mind so he decided to hunt cats,” Det. Michelle Dvorscak of the Lake County Sheriff’s office, who investigated the case, told ABC News. “There was one walking in the alley...

The Problem There are people sentenced to capital punishment, awaiting their fate on death row, who have not committed any crime, not been accused of anything, not stood any trial, not been found guilty by judge or jury. If these people, biologically, were members of the human species, the outrage at this earth-shattering injustice would reach the sky and beyond, leaping into the stratosphere. But because the biological status of these persons, who feel and think like you and me, or at least like you and me when we were little children, happens to be a different one from Homo...
