A German warship sunk by a torpedo during World War II has been found on the seabed off Norway, more than eight decades after it was attacked. Statnett, the Norwegian state-owned power grid operator, made the astounding discovery of the lost Karlsruhe cruiser around 1,600 feet below sea level. The vessel, which measures 571 feet long and still bears the Nazi swastika, led an assault on the southern Norwegian city of Kristiansand in the April 1940 invasion of the country. During the operation it came under fire from Norwegian artillery, was torpedoed by a British submarine and was finally submerged...

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry says it has summoned Norway’s ambassador to convey the deep concern of the government and Pakistani people over the recent burning of Islam’s holy book by a Norwegian man that was caught on video. In Saturday’s statement, the ministry said: “Such actions hurt the sentiments of 1.3 billion Muslims around the world.” The statement demanded action against the person in the city of Kristiansand who desecrated the Quran at an anti-Islam rally last week. …

The rugged west coast of Norway, home to thousands, is a challenge to travel along by car. It takes time. A long time. The harsh weather conditions make it an unpredictable route, with roads often closing and ferries often cancelling their departure due to snow, heavy winds or high waves. A continuous E39 highway that is accessible 24/7, with fixed links between islands and the mainland will make the western coast more accessible for people who inhabit the coast, but also for tourists and for the transportation of goods. Currently, 1,000km of road need to be improved The Norwegian parliament...

Snoop Dogg was detained in Norway after entering the country with marijuana and a large amount of cash, according to reports. The rapper, 40, allegedly arrived Kjevic Airport in Kristiansand with around eight grams of the drug which was detected by a sniffer-dog. A customs officer also said the artist was carrying more cash than is legally allowed and was subsequently fined 52,000 kroner ($8,600) for the violations. Snoop Dogg was scheduled to perform Thursday at a musical festival in the southern town of Kristiansand. It was his second drug bust this year alone - in January he was arrested...

This "tour of Norway" describes the city of Kristiansand, which with about 75,000 people, rates as one of the major--in the top ten--cities of Norway. The population- and land-density statistics say Norway is underpopulated, vast, and empty, but in my "U-2 flights" across the country, examining every square inch of our gallant allies in the war against terror, it seems to me (a Nebraskan) that Norway below Narvik, way up north, is crowded; too many people. If I were to go to Norway, I would immediately high-tail it up to Narvik, so as to get some breathing-room. Kristiansand is a relatively new...
