BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Krystal Co., the Georgia-based restaurant chain known for tiny hamburgers and late-night service across the Southeast, has filed for bankruptcy, but said Tuesday that all of its locations would remain open. Federal court documents showed Krystal sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Atlanta on Sunday. The company said it owed between $50 million and $100 million to food suppliers, equipment companies and others. Krystal has about 300 restaurants in 10 states, 182 of which employ 4,890 people and are operated by the company, restructuring officer Jonathan M. Tibus said in a court filing. Another 116 are run by...

Bill Kristol, son of Irving, names Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Mitt Romney, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and others on his hypothetical shortlist of third-party candidates that he could run if Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee. The “Weekly Standard” editor and self-styled neoconservative power broker is back to talking about a third party, declaring that a Trump victory in Indiana would force him to re-focus on his so-called “Latter-Day Republicans” independent ticket. A third party could help to split the vote on the Right and elect Hillary Clinton president, which would allow Kristol to stave off the Trump threat and...

MSNBC host Krystal Ball refuses to talk about her participation in the “Stop Rush” campaign targeting conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh’s advertisers. Ball secretly participated in the Stop Rush movement since becoming affiliated with MSNBC, emails reveal. But Ball did not respond to The Daily Caller’s emailed request for comment on her participation in the activist effort. “Stop Rush” is a campaign principally organized by Angelo Carusone, who is now a Media Matters executive vice president embroiled in controversy after TheDC published racist and anti-Semitic blog posts that he wrote. TheDC recently exposed the latest incarnation of the Stop Rush...

MSNBC’s blatant promotion of gay marriage appears to have taken a bizarre and sad turn. Krystal Ball, co-host of The Cycle, has taken to using her four-year-old daughter Ella as a prop in a pro-same-sex marriage video. In the 3-minute video, Ball asks her young daughter a series of questions about who she is allowed to marry, eventually asking her what happens if she loves another girl. Ball’s daughter, who is clearly taking cues from her mom, says that because she lives in New York she can marry another girl if she loves her. [Video} Such blatant and disgusting use...

Dems blush as Krystal Ball sex pics hit the ‘NetSTARR KESHET | Wed 6th Oct 2010, 11:17 pm Krystal Ball, a Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia, says she is both "embarrassed" and "angry" that a Republican blogger posted sexually explicit pictures of her on the Internet. Warning: Definitely NSFW. The images - which were originally uploaded to a blog known as "Virginia Vertucon" - were later posted to a number of other sites, including Black Velvet Bruce Li and Gawker. "It's sexist and it's wrong, regardless of political party,” Ball said in an official statement quoted by Politico. "I'm...

Brian Lillie described Krystal hamburgers as "small, good and cheap." But he has to do better than that if he wants to be one of the University of Tennessee students starring in the company's next batch of reality-based commercials. Chattanooga-based Krystal is in Knoxville through Saturday filming commercials to air this fall where real people - in this case, University of Tennessee students - talk about how much love they have for the miniature burgers. Krystal doesn't want aspiring actors or American Idol "wannabes." Instead it is looking for real people with real Krystal stories. Lillie has an interesting one,...

The Krystal Co. will soon begin selling its square burgers 'round here. Betting that its small hamburgers will be a hit throughout Texas – as they are across the South – the company is expanding its restaurants in the Lone Star State beginning in November. A restaurant set to open in mid-November in Carrollton is the first of five on tap for North Texas from Dallas-based Little Foods Franchise Group LLC. Restaurants also are slated to open in Houston in November and in Austin early next year. Eighteen Krystals are scheduled to open in Texas by 2009.
