  • Yellow Lab Chases Down and Catches Salmon (A must see Video)

Now I know why I never have any luck in catching salmon. After watching this video i realize that I have been going about it all wrong. I usually leave my lab dog home because he just plays in the water and scares away the fish. Next time I'll bring him with and sit back with a beer as I watch him catch the salmon for me.Follow this link to see a yellow lab catching a huge salmon You will not be disappointed, trust me.
  • The truth about Pit Bulls (yes, it is that time again!)

In a recent article about legislation against Pit Bulls, I ended with a comment on how fear and anger over isolated and heavily reported attacks was resulting in reprehensible actions being taken against Pit Bulls as a breed group, blaming the dog, and not irresponsible dog owners. A common refrain is "get rid of these dangerous dogs", even though breed specific legislation has not resulted in changes promised. Not anywhere.Petraits for Lake Shore Animal Shelter After reading an article showcasing a Baltimore group which, like the HSUS's "End Dogfighting in Chicago" organization, is working to help Pit Bulls and the...

Fetching support for old dogs By: ROBERT SLOAN, The Enterprise 02/02/2006 Jacky Franklin and his hunting partner of 13 years, Tyler, are all smiles after another day afield. When you combine dog years with actual human years, you get a pretty good idea of what a 10- to 13-year-old Labrador retriever must feel like when it gets the command to jump into cold water and swim out through mud and muck to get a duck. I hadn't really given that much thought until recently when my own lab, Big Nose Kate, slowed up on her enthusiasm to make a retrieve....

GREAT ST. BERNARD PASS, Switzerland, Oct. 27 - The only dog right now at the 950-year-old hospice of St. Bernard is a very nice golden retriever named Justy. The issue of those other dogs - the famously huge and heroic ones, who toted brandy barrels in legend, who lived here for centuries and sniffed scores of stranded travelers out of the snow - is not one that the Rev. Frédéric Gaillard is keen to talk about. "Now there are helicopters," Father Gaillard, one of four remaining monks at the St. Bernard's hospice here, said with some irritation. "And we have...
