The formidable head of a pride of lions has been killed in a vicious attack by younger rivals. Bob Junior - named after legendary reggae singer Bob Marley - was an incredibly photogenic big cat and a fan favourite with tour operators and visitors, who have paid tribute to him online. With his brother Tryggve, the 'coolest cat' in the Serengeti National Park had ruled his pride for more than seven years. The lion, who was also known as Snyggve and who some believed relished his celebrity status, did not put up a fight when he was mauled by younger...

Video sent to KRON shows a snarling mountain lion standing over a motionless dog. “A neighbor came over and fired a shot in the air,” neighbor Ron Crane said. The dog was eventually rescued and...

It appears some mountain lions appear quite comfortable at a home in Rapid City, South Dakota. According to Annie Mueller, who lives at the home, the mountain lions visited at approximately 6 a.m., 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Tuesday, and returned at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Security camera video from Tuesday morning even shows one of the cougars checking out Mueller’s front door before climbing up on a bench. Historically, mountain lions have lived throughout South Dakota, with many located in the Black Hills, according to the state’s Game, Fish and Parks department. Scientists at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU) have taken to studying the progression of the coronavirus in cats, after it was discovered that not a single cat in the country has tested positive despite several possessing antibodies, Latvian Television, the state broadcaster, reported last week. Cats are one of the most popular pets for humans, and often live closely with them. This is especially true in Latvia, which has Europe's second highest percentage of cats ownership per household per capita. At the start of the pandemic, many worried that the virus could potentially affect their favorite feline...

Hunted for months by cops, the Bronx “lion lady” is caged again. Myah Autry, the woman caught on video approaching a lion inside his den at the Bronx Zoo in September and failed to appear for her court appearance in November, has been nabbed by police in Coney Island Thursday morning. Autry was arrested not just on the warrant, but was grabbed when she threatened to jump off the Steeplechase Pier in Coney Island, law enforcement sources said. She was taken to the 60th Precinct on Oct. 21 but then transferred to Coney Island Hospital on Oct. 22 for psychiatric...

Many big cats – including lions, leopards, and tigers – are ambush predators. This means that they rely on stalking their prey and retaining the element of surprise. In some cases, being seen by their prey can lead them to abandon the hunt. We tested whether we could hack into this response to reduce livestock losses to lions and leopards in Botswana's Okavango delta region. This delta, in north-west Botswana, has permanent marshlands and seasonally flooded plains which host a wide variety of wildlife. It's a UNESCO world heritage site and parts of the delta are protected. However, though livestock...

"This is one of the worst jobs I have ever experienced," Stockman said in a statement. Police Detective Superintendent Greg Moore said the two male lions were secured shortly after and posed no further threat.

It's not just humans who are struggling with the burden of unexpected extra childcare at the moment, as these remarkable photographs show. Singa, an African lion, found his pack of five unruly cubs were more than a handful – or should that be pawful? – when mum was away. Although he appeared to be trying his best, his parenting skills were not quite up to the task of caring for his young brood at Pakawi Park Zoo in Belgium while their mother, JJ, underwent medical treatment.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—As if Americans haven’t had enough bad news, there are now reports of a huge disaster in the making. Apparently President Donald Trump has started watching the documentary Tiger King on Netflix and has purchased seventeen tigers, which are currently roaming the White House. “This is worse than when he watched that Michael Bay Ninja Turtles movie and ordered nunchucks from Amazon,” said one White House staffer who wished to remain anonymous. The tigers are now all over the White House, destroying priceless furniture and art. Even the Secret Service is too intimidated to confront them. Trump, though, seems...

The Monte Rico compound, in the state of Veracruz, was registered to brothers Jacinto and Alberto Rodríguez of the infamous the Los Piñas Cartel. The twosome turned their land into a place where they tortured their rivals, officials said.

Country music legend Garth Brooks posted a picture of himself in a "Sanders" jersey after his packed show Saturday night in Detroit, which created a bit of misguided outrage and confusion online.
