An Albertan court ruled on Tuesday that lockdown orders enacted in response to Covid were invalid. The ruling in Ingram v. Alberta will likely force prosecutors to withdraw charges against individuals, churches, and other organizations in several other standing cases. Justice Barbara Romaine ruled in favor of the applicants because the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) delegated her decisions to the cabinet, which she was not authorized to do under Canadian law. The CMOH herself testified at trial that she provided only advice and recommendations to politicians but did not make the decisions herself. Justice Romaine did conclude that...

A new study finds that lockdown orders didn’t reduce overall mortality, and may have even increased it. ife under lockdown was hard for all of us. From economic destruction to social isolation, the costs of restrictive government policies intended to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 have been steep. But now, yet another study suggests that the benefits wrought by our collective sacrifice were negligible at best—and that stay-at-home orders may even have increased overall mortality. In a new paper, economists from the University of Southern California and the RAND Corporation examined the effectiveness of “shelter-in-place” (SIP) mandates, aka stay-at-home orders,...

This case is not about one particular law, but the rule of law. California Assemblymen Kevin Kiley and James Gallagher are suing to stop California Governor Gavin Newsom’s “one man rule.” Kiley and Gallagher filed their most recent Trial Brief, and Gov. Gavin Newsom filed his. The trial will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in Sutter County. But unlike the Speaker of the House, San Franciscans will still be required to wear a face mask indoors. ... Pelosi was captured on leak surveillance footage walking around the establishment without a face mask. Perhaps it was Pelosi's illegal visit to the hair salon that has now prompted...

Colorado House Republican leader Patrick Neville and conservative commentator Michelle Malkin announced they're suing Gov. Jared Polis over the statewide mask order Wednesday afternoon The Democrat governor issued his executive order on July 16 to combat the spread of coronavirus. Opponents, mostly Republicans, have seen it as government overreach more than public safety. While Polis is the defendant, the lawsuit questions the constitutionality of the Colorado's Disaster Emergency Act, when the Colorado Constitution "clearly" separates powers between the legislative and executive branches, the plaintiffs said Wednesday afternoon. The legislative branch is supposed to create laws that the executive branch enforces,...
